Located on the rood of Cecil Hotel in the center of down-town Alexandria, Rameleh Station, the view is fantastic, with a nice Chinese decoration, friendly atmosphere, and tasty food with quite large variety of selections. The service is good and the taste is good but not 100% Chinese taste as in other more specialized Chinese restaurants. It is considered touristic place, hence 22,5% VAT are added on top of your bill making value for money very expensive. There was no soap in Men's room and in general cleanness could be better

Now this hotel has been a gem, wonderful service etc, but why would you put a Chinese restaurant on the top of
Such a land mark. Now down to the nitty gritty. Food- horrid, Thai food with too much 5 spice?? In Thai which should have clean clear fresh flavours, the whole meal was a disaster. My companion wouldn't eat thier dish as it was not palatable.
Service- unlike the rest of the hotel, very slow and not attentive at all. They need to take some lessons from the staff at
jardine down stairs. Ambience- with a view like that can you go wrong!
Maybe I'm an incurable romantic, but an Egyptian restaurant with a Bedouin tent, carpets on the floor, seating on upholstered mats would make sense, giving guests an authentic experience not some pseudo Chinese/ Asian trip.
The food was absolutely great and they served us very quilckly. It is in the city centre, with a great view over the Corniche. It is a bit expensive but no more than expected. The meat in a hot plate was really good and also the starters. Highly recommended for a special ocasion.

There are actually a couple locations for China House (the other one I know of is just north of the Four Seasons hotel on the side street), but this spot is clearly referring to the location on the top of the Cecil/Sofitel Hotel. During nice weather (which is the overwhelming majority of the weather you'll get in Alex), this is a great place to go and sit and enjoy the incredible view from the top of the hotel. The menu has Chinese, Thai and Japanese sections. I love Chinese and Thai, but I don't care for Japanese/sushi, so I can't say much about those. The Chinese is very good, and the Thai is excellent.
I definitely recommend this place.
