“shoes))))”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2014

Okay! I shall start from the beginning. It wasn't my idea to visit this place, but my mom's. Didn't really want to go. But as soon as we entered the territory the guards gave us cool shoes so we don't ruin the old and beautiful floor with fresca. Worth seeing. Then we had a cool trip around this villa, where you can find just gorgeous jewels. No really! They cost a fortune! In the end i was very satisfied, because it was something unusual to my eyes.

And yeah, the shoes... Damn people look funny in those! So did I))))

“The Royal Jewelries Museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

This is the museum that host the collections of the jewelries of Muhammad Ali's royal family that ruled Egypt the before the 23 July 1952 revolution. These jewelries are rare genuine pieces with fabulous designs and of historical value.

“Still closed but well maintained.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013 via mobile

I knew this museum in all likelihood would be closed but I just had to see this beautiful building. It is a sight for sore eyes & "sore"impressions.
Located in what appears to be an upscale neighborhood this fine architectural delight made for good photography & gawking! No gaurds, no beggars, no inquisitive pedestrians & ample parking space on the street outside. Infact I got to photograph some unusually designed homes & impressive apartment buildings on this street.
The museum building could easily pass off for a mansion- no signboards or indications this is a jewelry museum. Elegant structure in European influenced style. Tidy compound. Lush green gardens. Look up and you see the security cameras discretely looking down at you!
The serenity of the place instantly impressed & surprised me.
Come to this street and you wonder if the Tahrir Square scenes & UN poverty reports about Egypt are real. It is a beautiful quite elegant neighborhood, few blocks away from the city's coastal rd (corniche) in an obviously affluent neighborhood. It's when you remember the reason why this place is locked up, are you forced to acknowledge the political strife the country is going through.
A visit here even if it doesn't take you to the insides of the museum, rewards you with a glimpse of rich beautiful non-chaotic almost unblemished Egypt. Very impressive and so not the Egypt you hear & see about.
A must visit, just for the flavor of Alexandria & the quititude & elegance possible in current day Egypt.

“A glimpse of history”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

when i had relatives from abroad to visit, one of the nice places to go to is this.
gives you the kind of royal aristocratic feel of Egypt in the late 40's of last century.
do go in sneakers not in heels, sandals or flip-flops as you'll have to wear feet protection of the floor during your visit.
numbers require pre-advance booking as i think.
enjoy it
