We have just returned from our stay at the Sulina Hotel in Neptun for a prolonged weekend. I must say, being a Romanian myself (and used to the less than acceptable, yet expensive, standards of the Romanian hoteliers), I was more than skeptical about what we were going to find there, and all I really wanted was for it to be clean - we weren't planning to spend much time in the hotel room, anyways.
Having said that, I must say we were impressed...the hotel rooms are reasonably big (except for the bathrooms which, indeed, are somewhat on the small side), clean and except for the ground floor rooms, all have a balcony. The double is in fact a twin, but that was easily rectified by just pushing the beds together. The rooms have individual air conditioning and TV and the hotel has a reasonably sized swimming pool (the pool looked clean and well-maintained as well, although I must admit we did not use it as I cannot see the logic in going to the sea-side to swim in the pool).
The breakfast is bufet type and again, there is a reasonable variety of stuff to eat, such as eggs, bacon, sausages, vegetables, cheese, salami, musli, milk, fruit, yoghurt etc.
All in all we were very pleased, and despite being somewhat weary of leaving valuables in the room while on the beach, there was no problem on that side, either.
The hotel is fairly close to the beach, which is not more than 300 m away, a distance which has to be walked, as there is no other means of transport there. The sea was fantastic, albeit with some algae at the entrance but further on clean and welcoming.
All in all, a pretty good stay at the Sulina hotel in Neptun, we shall most probably return there!
