We found out about Casa Rozelor in one of the few well-known travel guides covering Eastern Europe. Their advice was to stay here while you can because soon it will be discovered and may be difficult to reserve. What a great place! Situated just a few blocks (2 minutes walk), from the beautiful main square in Brasov, the location is within walking distance of almost everything you'd want to do in the old town.
Innkeeper Gregor picked us up at the train station (we had taken the train immediately upon arriving from the states), and took us to the old town. Because their renovations had hit a snag with the city gas line installation, he booked us in another hotel for one night (reviewed separately), then transfered us the next morning. Our suite at Casa Rozelor was stunning! There was a complete kitchen setup, dining area, large living room and bedroom. We asked for a suite with a bathroom on the same level as the bedroom, as some of the suites are 2 level.Ours had a modern shower but no tub. The eclectic decor is a whimsical and beautiful mix of antiques, reproductions, and modern art which should please almost everyone. Contrary to our guidebook, there were 2 flatscreen TVs with satellite and local connections that offered many English channels. The included breakfast is brought from an adjacent restaurant, and is your choice of everything from continental to a hot one that is large enough to make sandwiches for lunch from the leftovers. All this for 95 Euros double, 80 single.
Gregor and his lovely wife Cristina were always available for touring advice, dinner reservations, and anything else we needed. (If you have an extra day, take their suggestion to visit nearby Prejmer, only a short drive by taxi, and very unique.) Even though they have just added a couple of more suites, it is still a very small place, so go there while you can.
