Casa Rozelor (www.casarozelor.ro) is located in an extremely convenient location to all of old town Brasov. The location puts it 1 block from Piata Sfatului and almost directly on pedestrian only Republicii street.
As a warning most taxi companies are not familiar with this location, a location map would be very helpful for the driver or Strada Republicii and Strada Michael Weiss directions to the driver will get you close enough to walk. Taxi drivers will not always get you directly to the front door of Casa Rozelor as their location on Michael Weiss street is a semi-pedestrian only street with access to vehicles controlled by the police, so a short walk (maximum 1 block) might be needed to reach the front gate.
The additional 2 apartments mentioned in previous reviews are still not quite ready, we toured them and they are very close to completion, the wait will be well worth it. Currently there are still only 3 apartments available for rent all of which were occupied during our stay, advanced reservation are highly recommended.
We stayed in Apartment 5, a very nice spacious single-level apartment on the 2nd floor with a large deck that overlooks the courtyard. The stairs up to the apartment are original to the building so they are a little clumsy to go up, make sure you flip the lights on in the stairwell at night or risk a fall. The kitchen is well appointed with all the amenities you would need during your stay. Breakfast is ordered at 9 AM and delivered directly to your room from an adjoining restaurant. My wife and I were extremely comfortable in this apartment for the duration of our stay.
The Brasov train station is a quick cab ride away for day trips through Transylvania, the cab stand is located just up Republicii street, near the Volksbank building. Make sure you check the price per kilometer on the cabs and get the cheapest one possible, also make sure the driver uses the meter and not a fixed price, as they will try to rip you off. Expect to pay at most 7 leis for a cab ride to/from the train station.
Cristina, the owner, was able to organize a personal taxi for the day for a tour to Bran and Rasnov (both very highly recommended) at a cost of 70 leis. This is a very nice, reasonably priced option if you are not keen on taking buses. Cristina was also more than happy to look up train schedules and recommend places to visit, and restaurants to eat at.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Rozelor and will recommend the property to all of our friends. The personal attention we received staying here was a nice respite to the lackluster service we receive at chain hotels.
