Upon checking into this hotel, the lobby looked okay. But once we took the elevator up to our floor, we felt as if we were in a Russian hotel from years past. As we walked down the hallway, lights flashed on so we could see where we were going. They clicked off just as fast as they went on. That should have been the first clue.
After opening the door to our junior suite, I knew we were in trouble. This tiny room had a small wall dividing a couch from a double bed. We tried to freshen up to find that there were just one set of towels.
After traveling an entire day and so worn out, I had to go back to reception to be sure that this was indeed a junior suite. They assured me that it was and sent up another set of towels.
Even the bathroom situation was strange. A contemporary glass wash basin sat in the bedroom. The toilet was off of the sitting area. The shower was adequate, but it was a good thing that I didn't have to wash my hair.
I didn't want to make a big deal out of this room, but it was depressing. We went out for dinner to return hoping we could fit in a double bed. It had been years since sleeping in a bed of that size. As we got into bed we discovered that the bed was made up with a twin duvet.
This was a night of horrors. I didn't have the energy to get dressed to go down again. We had to have the air conditioning on because of the summer heat, and it became cold in the room some hours later. All night long we were pulling on the undersized bedcovering to keep warm waking each other up. We got little sleep.
The next morning I went back down to reception to complain, and this time they sent up another twin duvet. It was weird sleeping in that bed the next night with two covers, but it worked.
The breakfast was below average. They did have a good coffee machine in the dining room, however, and I was able to have a decent cup of coffee.
The only redeeming factor is that this hotel was in an excellent location. I believe there was a Ramada across the street. You might have better luck there.
