“Not a four star”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2012

Big building, giving you the feeling of the good old days (or at least trying to..) However, this place is coming to age, with limited cleanliness and old installations (bathroom). The breakfast buffet is far away from a 4-star standard (synthetic orange juice, very limited selections with eg only one fruit.. ). But good location, withing walking distance from pedestrian zone and historic part of the city.
We did not try the pool - which appears to be very nice indeed

Hotel is situated nicely at the end of the "main street"
It is in desperate need of an overhaul.
Room is at first glimpse nice, when I got in with the third new key, but more in detail it shows mould around the bath, which is leaking, the shower malfunctions, the airco makes more noise than it cools, the bed limps and the tv shows mostly snow.
Breakfast is good.
The service means in general a yes on most questions independent of understanding you or having the intention to actually do something.

There is not a lot to see in Plovdiv, mostly the old city and their sidewalk. The city itself is very clean. We stay in the Trimontium Princess hotel only one night. Its location at the end of the sidewalk and near the post and the restaurants made it ideal for us to walk a little at evening to eat and then have a long rest. The hotel itself has the whole modern facilities (yeah, also it include a Casino inside), the rooms were large and clean, with hot water and the beds were comfortable. It was a good place to sleep. I do not believe that I will be back to Plovdiv, but if I come again I will take this hotel as a first priority to stay.

Room Tip: take a one who know the Bulgarian language, it can help you...

Have been here for two days during a business trip to Bulgaria. This hotel gives you a nice historical feeling and is situated in the heart of Plovdiv. Restaurants and shops are around the corner on walking distance. Rooms are clean and nice, only thing what didn't work perfect was the airconditioning. The swimming pool is great. When the sun shines you will have all day sun. The gym is a bit small (just two treadmills). There is a great variety at the breakfast buffet, you won't be disappointed. At last, service is ok and staff are friendly.

I went there for the wedding of a Bulgarian friend that was taking place in the top floor restaurant of the hotel.
Room: a bit outdated but clean and with everything you need inside. Yes, there was a bit of old smoking smell, but I found it easy enough to remedy by opening the windows for a while. And Bulgarians have very recently banned smoking, so that sould not be a problem much longer
Breakfast: quite rich buffett, on average good with some quality issues (oldish bread, undefined orange drink)
Service: very nice and attentive! All requests were met in a very friendly way.
Highlight: on a very hot weekend with 30-35 °C it was very(!!) nice to find a big outdoor swimming pool in a city center hotel!

This hotel is fabulous! Excellent location - walking distance to old town. Lovely breakfast (which isn't samey-samey) everyday. Courteous and friendly staff. Amazingy HUGE indoor swimming pool (certainly bigger than any in UK I've seen!). Good restaurant with reasonable prices for dinner. Room is nice - comfy with adequate essentials provided. Amazing panaoramic view from the bar as well - ALL this for a bargain rate per night - I highly recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: as for a high floor!

I stayed at this hotel for one night at the end of April 2012 because my tour group stopped there.
My room had many disgusting stains on the carpeting, the curtains were torn from the hooks in places, there were black marks in the bottom of the tub. The front desk person came to my room (along with the tour manager) but denied seeing any stains on the carpet.
There was no clock in the room so I followed the printed instructions and dialed "8" to ask for a wakeup call. It never came. When I mentioned it to the front desk person, he denied that the call had not been made. (Others in my group did not get their requested calls either)
This hotel is shabby and needs reburbishment.
I would strongly urge people not to stay at this hotel.
