“Very relaxing, friendly, easy stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2009

This is a lovely small hotel, more like a B&B than hotel. The owner and staff were extremely friendly and helpful and made my stay a delight. I'd definitely recommend it.

This small hotel is very well situated on the edge of the old town. It is a new establishment, beautifully decorated throughout. The biggest room in which we stayed has a small balcony overlooking a square. The English speaking host will point you in the right direction for your interests or needs. Be prepared to wander cobble-stoned streets and get lost.
Plovdiv can get very hot in the summer, but it is easy to catch a bus into the mountains to cool off. A visit to Bachkovo monastery is recommended. Art lovers will like the restored houses exhibiting collections of Bulgarian art.

This is a new building on the site of an old house. It has been rennovated to a high standard with traditional flavour. The rooms are basic but comfortable with tvs aircon and newly fitted bathrooms.
Located in the old town and close to all the tourist features.
The owner is most helpful and attentive and keen to direct you around the town. Check your satnav though as google maps lists two hotel rennaissences in Plovdiv. There is actually only one, and it is the furthest away from the river.

A beautiful boutique hotel in a good location, just at the edge of the old town. The owner/manager is extremely helpful; he spent several years in the USA and speaks excellent English.

The restaurant serves typical Bulgarian tavern food. Unlike many such places, it makes an effort to serve the courses in the order you might expect them, rather than in the entirely random order the cook happened to prepare them. There is a fine choice of wine, too.

This was recommended as the #1 hotel in Plovdiv by Lonely Planet, so we went directly for it when we drove into town. After we found the place (which was a little tricky as it's in the middle of some very small, one-way streets) the owner told us that he had no vacancy, but as we were walking back to the car, he ran after us to say that his nicest room was available if we only stayed one night, and he would give it to us for half price... deal. The hotel itself is small, but our room was quite large and very nicely decorated. (See our pictures.) It had a balcony that overlooked the quaint neighborhood. The hotel is very much within walking distance of all the major tourist attractions in Old Plovdiv as well as local nightlife. There is a nice fruit market just across the street. In morning, the owner made us breakfast in his restaurant downstairs - it was tomatoes, cheese, crackers, salami (all Bulgarian breakfasts are the same - you won't find an American Breakfast in Bulgaria, so get used to it). We drove to Veliko Turnovo that morning and the owner sat down with us to map out the best route. He knew which roads to take and which not to take. This place had a lot of charm and personality. Highly recommended.
