“Icon of the city and country.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2014 via mobile

Just a short walk from a close carpark, the cobbles are quite smooth, thus, not a lot of grip. Covered in tourists, it can be quite busy but a must for anyone visiting Mostar.

“Avoid it during the day, if you can”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2014 via mobile

It's a bridge, and it serves its purpose good enough I suppose. It looks nice, but at the same time you feel like a sheep in a big flock from 10:00 - 19:00. We stayed in Mostar for three nights and were lucky enough to experience the bridge during the early morning and the late night, when it is almost empty, and the souvenir shops have all closed down. Tourist trap? Sure, in the daytime it is, but when the visitors from the Croatian coastline have disappeared, it is an entirely different place.

“Iconic bridge!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

This bridge connects the city on two sides, the first one is Catholic, the other one is Muslim side of the town. It has been like that since 15th century. A beautiful landmark of this lovely city.

“Incredibly beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

Amazing, first that this beautiful old bridge, the heart and soul of Mostar, was purposefully destroyed during the Bosnian War, and secondly that it was rebuilt with such detail that one wouldn't guess it is not the original without being told. Perfect for pictures - ones taken at different times of the day and from different view points are all quite different. It can be very crowded so going early in the morning and later in the evening are the best times for photos. The deck of the gracefully arched bridge is fairly slippery (especially when wet) and even the rumble strips, for lack of a better word, placed every foot or so, are smooth enough on the tops and high enough to be obstacles so walking quickly is almost impossible. If you are lucky, you will see jumpers into the river going off the tower beside the bridge.

“Iconographic UNESCO site”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2014

This landmark is very evocative of what this city went through during the war. Be sure to check out the free video in the bookstore just past the end of the bridge to see what happened when it was blown up, and what happened to the city. We never did see any of the "divers" jump from the bridge--just feigning and collecting tips. Maybe it happened when we turned our backs!
