This is an amazing memorial to visit. A guide will take you deep down into the limestone caves where you can see piles of rusting WWII ordances and equipment that was abandoned after the local troops came to the surface and liberation.
Of the thousands of mixed troops that went down to hide only a few hundred survived.
Please remember there are many soldiers buried in many parts of the caves.
The caves a quite a bit out of town so you need either a taxi or local bus to get you there.
Make sure you also visit the city art gallery just off Lenin Square to see all the murals painted to depict the heroism and the suffering of the soldiers.
