“Great hotel and helpfull staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2014

Google street view passed before this hotel was built, so we did not know what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised. Rooms are excellent, staff was very helpful and its cheap. Only issue we ran into is, previous occupant has set the wake up clock running on the TV ;)

Clean and luminous room, good breakfast, cheap for the category of hotel. The place is very quiet
At the hotel you can have massage, manucure, hair dresser...
A little bit far from the old city (30 min by walk)

A three star hotel outside of the city centre (a long walk or cab), close to the railway station and the airport. The rooms are clean and quiet. It is cheap. However the service leaves a bit to be desired. You could be ordering something from the bar and another waiter would be idle and staring at you. Their English is very basic and do not ask for any explanations if you do not want to have an impatient waiter who cannot express himself in front of you. The food (breakfast) is just ok and the selection is limited. Apart from the service this hotel is a good option for stayng in Lviv.

This hotel recently opened. It is located in a quiet working class residential neighborhood of Lviv about 1 1/2 miles from the historical center of the city. The staff of the hotel were very nice and some of them spoke fluent English. When I first arrived, a very nice gentleman working for the hotel showed me to my room and was helpful in answering any questions I might have about the hotel and local transportation. My room was clean and comfortable. The Wi-Fi connection was very good. The breakfast served was decent with a variety of choices. I ate dinner at the hotel restaurant twice and the food was excellent! When the bill came for my 1st dinner at the restaurant, I was surprised how cheap it ended up being! It is about a 35 minute walk from this hotel to the historical area of Lviv. The tram that normally goes to the historical center was not operating due to road repairs which were being done to the main road. To get to the historical center from my hotel, it was easy to catch a mini- bus ( Marshrutky) to go there and the cost was only 25 US cents. Getting back to my hotel from the historical center was much more difficult as I could not figure out which mini- bus to take to get there. The bus drivers of these mini-buses do not speak 1 word of English and good luck asking directions from the locals as they also usually do not know any English. I ended up walking back to my hotel from the historical center, each evening as I never could figure out how to take the mini-buses back. I enjoyed my stay at the hotel and overall I found it to be a good value for my money. I'm not sure, but I think eventually, the tram will start operating again and that will make it much easier to get back in forth between this hotel and the historical center of the city.

I needed an Inexpensive, modern hotel for a two-day business trip to L'viv, and selected Nota Bene. It was a very good choice. Being a new property, everything is fresh, clean and modern. The staff mostly seems to speak English, though I suspect that they are catering to Ukrainians and Poles, based on signage, the in--room directory, and the absence of BBC or CNN on the big flat-screen television. The hotel offers a free shuttle service to and from the railway station (2 km) and airport. It has free wi-fi throughout and a large conference room. This winter, they will have a sauna available as well - a nice amenity to take the chill off.

The complimentary breakfast (7 to 10 am) is standard Eastern European fare - lots of selection but it will strike westerners as odd due to lunch-type dishes like rice with vegetables, hot dogs, fish, cold cuts and cheese. Yet there is a sort of scrambled egg/ometlet concoction along with crepes, boiled potatoes, yogurt and cold cereals, as well as some pastries. Coffee is from automated espresso machines. All-in-all, there should be something here to get you going.

The single room offers a twin-sized bed, which is very narrow if you're used to a bigger bed. Yet the bedding is very comfortable, and as the hotel is on a residential street, it won't be difficult to sleep well.

In the bath, the shower and sink use liquid soap dispensers. Not a huge deal, and actually preferable to the microscopic plastic-wrapped bars most hotels provide. Towels are good quality, but not luxe.

This is a well designed hotel. The only modification I would suggest is the electrical sockets. The bathroom includes a hair dryer, but there is nowhere to plug an electric razor. Hotels are notoriously stingy with electrical outlets, but Note Bene provides three - a nice change! The problem is that you must crawl under the desk to access them. Considering that guests travel with computers and chargers for mobile phones, iPads and other essentials, having to snake around on the carpet (as I did) is uncomfortable and inconvenient. Much better had they placed the outlets at desk-level, where they can be reached easily.

The service is really very good. I went to the desk to ask to use an iron and board, and the housekeeper was practically at my room before I was. Everyone was attentive and friendly.

Overall, this is a great small hotel. I will be back!

Room Tip: Even if you're alone, book a double - unless you enjoy a rather narrow twin bed.
