Description: Welcome to Tinel! Enjoy the atmosphere of the ancient Zadar town on the peninsula mixed with all the buzz of the near-by piazza, the Zadar’s main square. In the old Dalmatian homes, the room used for socializing and relaxation was referred to as “tinel”. In Italy and in the South of France it is the name used for dining rooms or refectories. So what a better place to experience Mediterranean and Dalmatia, the history of the old-age towns built from stone and gastronomical secretes of their residents, then in the very center of the over three thousand years old town of Zadar.Restaurant TINEL is a restaurant, a bistro, a pizzeria and a spaghetteria. It is a casual and relaxed eatery, with friendly crew and excellent chefs. We offer traditional Mediterranean and Dalmatian cuisine with a touch of creativity and contemporary themes. Whether you look for pasta, pizza, salads, meats or fish, you will find it here. Join us, relax and enjoy… TINEL is the place for the good mood and the great food.

“Good food at a reasonable price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

We ate here twice and enjoyed both meals. The first evening I was not massively hungry so I had the warm grilled vegetable salad with mozzarella which had a lovely dressing. It was delicious. My partner had the chicken in a tomato, basil and pine nut sauce which came with polenta grilled polenta wedges. He has grilled vegetables on the side. We both felt that the food was very good and the red wine recommended was lovely. We went back the next night and I tried the chicken myself it was very good.

“A Pizza, One Olive, and a Struggling Musician.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012 via mobile

Went here based on the better than average reviews but was a bit disappointed because of some small details. Ordered a Hawaiian pizza and it was good. But the un-serrated knife on the table was not right for a thick pizza not cut in the kitchen, so cutting the pizza was hard. Kept staring at the single olive on the pizza. Was it there by "accident"? If so, how did it get there? If not and it was part of the recipe, why only one? Did the chef run out of olives, or was he skimping and gave me only one olive deliberately? The hired street musician/entertainer (singer/guitarist) near the restaurant entrance had a most difficult time hitting the right notes and became somewhat irritating because of that as the meal progressed. In summary, a good meal that could have earned a better than average grade, but some items were missing or just plain wrong.

“HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2012

We visited Zadar for a week and tried to fit in as many restaurants as possible but when dining here for the first time we HAD to return it was perfect!
When walking through the square in the old town past a small side street you are greeted by a musician playing traditional romantic Croation music. There are tables leading along the street leading up to a beautiful al fresco setting, there are tables inside the restaurant if you so wished also.
The waiters there are very attentive, fantastic service and very friendly. As for the food, it was beautiful. They have a photo menu that pulled us in to the restaurant and when the food arrived it still outdid our expectations, the fish plate is a must when eating here, mmmmm!
Zadar had such a nice feel to it, I loved every moment we were there and this restaurant was the cherry on the cake! If only they delivered to the UK!
Beautiful.
This was fine dining, good sized portions at a good price, not the cheapest in Zadar but we had paid more in the old town for half of the quality....you have to go!

“Best in old town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

We compare with very good restaurants across the world and give an excellent rating!

Top food which was very nicely presented! The service was very friendly and competent. The price-quality relation is very high! One of the best in Croatia, by far!

Some guests should not forget, that quality has it's price. In general you don't get excellent food for a small price.

“Unpretentious, friendly and good food too!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

We called in for lunch on Saturday, the weather was lovely so we sat outside on the terrace. The waiter was attentive, we ordered salad, which was fresh, tasty and a good sized dishful. The pasta and pizza looked impressive, and certainly smelt good too. Our fellow diners seemed to enjoy them! Value for money, and just the kind of place you need for a quick, tasty lunch
