When we arrived in Pula, seeing The Arena was the first thing we did. It is simply awesome - very well preserved and a huge structure near the middle of town. One of the 4 largest of its kind in the world and one of only a handful remaining in Croatia, The Arena is similar to the Roman Colosseum but obviously smaller. Once home to gladiator battles, many of The Arena's seats and entryways are still visible. I'd recommend taking the audio tour - it can be a bit over-the-top and some of the talking points were hard to find but overall it was very informative. We visited in late May and it wasn't too busy with tourists but I'd still recommend getting there on the early side just to be safe.
