“Comfortable rooms, spectacular views, perfect location and efficient and friendly service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2012

Hotel More was an excellent choice for our accommodation in Dibrovnik.

Service
Slick and efficient, ever friendly and accommodating

Location
Perfected located such that it is central enough to be close to good restaurants, the Barbour and the Old City

Setting
SPECTACULAR!!!!

Rooms
A little on the small side, but beautifully decorated, flawlessly finished and very comfortable.

Food
Breakfast was a little luxury liner'ish but nevertheless it was fresh and tasty.

Thank you for a fantastic stay!

The staff are often what make or break an hotel, and the Hotel More has some of the best. Certainly they are efficient - this is not a cheap hotel and that is to be expected - but most manage to combine this efficiency with a friendly, helpful and caring attitude. All speak excellent english.

Our room and bathroom were both spacious, well equipped and clean. However the room had only one small window, covered by heavy drapes and net curtains, and no balcony, so was depressingly dark despite the sun and sea sparkling outside. Very disappointing. The double bed was in fact two single beds pushed together, and made-up separately. Cupboard space was good, with plenty of hangers. Trouser press, hairdryer, safe, wi-fi access, robes, slippers, TV and writing materials were all provided, but there was no clock, and no tea or coffee making facilities in the room, and the bathroom had only a single sink. Towels were very thin.

We very much enjoyed cocktails on one of the terraces each evening, but had mixed experiences in the restaurant for dinner. The tournados steaks were particularly good, but the seafood platter was a big disappointment. Seemingly only bottled water could be provided. The breakfast was very good, and eggs were made to order, but why have such enormous cups when the coffee and tea pots are so tiny?

The hotel is some distance from Dubrovnik, so not exactly convenient for sight seeing, although taxis are readily available. Built on a steep hillside there is limited flat space for terraces, so loungers for sunbathing were appropriated very early in the morning and the area felt very crowded. Totally unsuitable for young children. Two elevators, some distance apart, have to be taken to get from top to bottom of the hotel. A good hotel for a short visit, but not for a long vacation.

We spent that last 3 days of our month long vacation to Croatia and Solvenia in Dubrovnik. The Hotel More was the most expensive room of our entire trip and the worst. When we saw our room we were very, very disappointed. I believe it was room 507. It was so small that the two of us could not move around at the same time. We could not even open our suitcases. We asked to be moved which they did finally on the second day. Our second room was at least the size of an ordinary hotel room. I am not sure if they have other rooms as small as 507, but I would look at your room first.
Other then that the staff was very friendly and helpful. Even though we had a car we used the bus which was a short ride to the old town. There are all so a lot of local restaurants if you do not want to eat at the hotel. Parking is on site which is great.

This was the 3rd and final hotel I had booked for our week trip to Montenegro and Dubrovnik, but being 5 stars the most anticipated. Even though the hotel is a delight in many ways (the location by the sea, the sun terrace, the design) the reviews over-hype the place and for the €240 (mid season rate) for a double room with a sea view, I felt that the following could and should have been better for a hotel of 5 stars:
1. Beds - I had booked a double room with a sea view. The beds were comfortable but they are two twin beds joined together rather than a king sized bed. Very surprised that there are no king or double beds in a hotel of 5*.
2. Balcony - there is a lovely panoramic view, but unfortunately the design is flawed. If you sit on the balcony chairs provided, there is a handrail that is at eye level that blocks the view of the sea. Secondly, we were on the first floor, and the people in the restaurant could look up into the balcony. Hence, there was a lack of privacy.
3. Gadgets - The TV had limited selection of free channels, there was no i-pod dock and no tea or coffee making facilities. The ac was pretty nosey at night. I loved the loudspeaker in the bathroom, though it did not work too well.
4. Breakfast - buffet had a good selection (fruit salad looked like it was out of a tin though), but there was no personal table breakfast service offered of porridge, fried eggs etc. The coffee was a disaster - definitely for the starbucks generation who like coffee served in a gigantic mug, that is watery and lacks real taste. A real shame as good coffee is a prerequisite in the morning.
5. The terrace - lovely terrace, but not enough space. I can imagine one having to put one's beach towel down early in the morning in the summer.
6. Maintenance - One of our balcony lights was not working and not replaced in the 3 nights we were there. The same can be said for one of our room lights. This should have been addressed.

On the plus side, the cave bar in the evening is lovely - especially if you get a place by the sea. When we were there (around 10pm) there was no music being played and it was lovely listening to the waves, looking into the sea or the Dubrovnik coast over a glass of wine. Magical! The swimming is great - no beach, but straight into the inviting Adriatic.

Overall, we did enjoy our 3 nights in the Hotel More, and relaxing on the terrace. The location is 4km from the old town - the bus stop is a 10-15 minute walk away. I just feel that due to the reasons above and the price, the place could and can be that much more better.

Room Tip: Do not chose a room on the 1st floor!

4 of us spent 5 days in Dubrovnik staying at The Hotel More. The Hotel was great with very helpful staff who still like to please unlike some parts of the Med. The views are fantastic and it is so relaxing at the hotel you feel like just staying there. Some rooms are smaller like 206 but we then moved to a sea view and it was great. The breakfast is really good with views over the sea. Not far from the old town either by bus or taxi is about £8. I think the web site says about 30-40 minutes walk but waitress told us probably more like an hour. If it is hot don't do it but if you feel in the mood have a go. All in all would definitely go again and would recommend this hotel totally and Dubrovnik too. Take a day trip to Montenegro too which is beautiful. We got a personal trip for 200 euros for 4. Well worth it.

Room Tip: Some rooms views partially blocked by trees. Some rooms facing the back look out onto a stone wall...

My wife and I stayed with another couple for 9 nights We had two lovely rooms on the second floor overlooking the bay giving great views, The hotel is so clean, staff are friendly and helpful and there is such a nice feeling of quality and being looked after. Breakfast is a joy on the terrace overlooking the bay -- excellent choice of food and really nice staff, The cave bar is absolutely superb being built in to the rocks -- very clever unique design -- and there is also a great area to relax with a drink or meal by the water's edge, You can also make use of the hot tub before cooling off in the pool or swim in the hotel's private sea area. We ate in the restaurant three times and found the food good quality and not expensive. We wanted a peaceful holiday without the hustle and bustle of the city and we achieved it -- it's only a 5 to 10 minute pleasant walk to a bus stop or taxi -- four people in a taxi is same cost as four on a bus to the Old City (or take taxi from hotel). We have stayed in many hotels and this rates among the best around and is such great value -- try booking the hotel direct as you will probably get better value and be in control of your booking -- our sincere thanks to Robert Trpin, Sales and Marketing Manager, for his help. Good English is spoken by nearly all the staff.
Thanks once again to all the staff at Hotel More for a great stay.

Room Tip: We had rooms 202 and 203 -- great position, large, quiet, balcony and best views. The interior rooms...

My wife and I stayed at Hotel More for 2 nights in May. We were upgraded to a deluxe room with private jacuzzi and separate living area. The room was simply outstanding, the staff both friendly and attentive and the views from the room, terrace and breakfast area are just amazing. The hotel has its own restaurant and cave bar and also offers private beach access. The hotel is a short walk to bus services and a short ride into the old town and also provides free car parking! We cannot fault the hotel and highly recommend it.
