“Perfect for a short stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago NEW

Very remiss of me not to have written this review sooner, as we stayed here for my birthday back at the beginning of September 2014. As our flight didn't arrive until early evening we booked a transfer through the hotel so as to be in Dubrovnik as quickly as possible as we didn't want to miss dinner.
First impressions of the Berkeley was of a modern, unremarkable-looking building, but over the following days we grew rather attached to it. Our welcome at check-in was genuinely friendly and our room was large with a view down towards the harbour.
In a rush to find somewhere for dinner on the first evening we somehow found our way in the darkness to the pedestrian street full of restaurants on the Lapad Peninsular - about 20 mins walk. The old city was easily walkable too - about 30 mins - though we usually caught the bus each way in the evenings simply because we'd already walked for miles during the day.
Breakfast was delicious with freshly-cooked eggs and a choice of sausages/mushrooms etc from the menu. The lady looking after the breakfast room was a mine of information and gave us advice on our day trip to Cavtat.
During our stay we experienced the heaviest amount of rainfall in Dubrovnik's history on 1st September. Luckily we'd just arrived back in our room after a long morning walk, and watched the violent storm for a couple of hours from our balcony.
We were sorry to leave The Berkeley, and the sweet girl on reception presented us with a couple of small bottles of liqueurs as they'd realised I'd had a birthday during our stay.
A lovely holiday, and I'd recommend The Berkeley to anyone looking for an interesting city break.

Stayed for two nights and was upgraded to a suite with kitchenette - amazing, large, clean room. Good kitchen, clean bathroom, and private balcony with sea view. The complimentary breakfast was very nice to enjoy each morning. The old town in Dubrovnik is a 30 minute walk, an easy walk, through "real" Dubrovnik, which was fun for active travelers who don't mind a walk. There is also a bus but the walk allows you to explore staircases and alleyways that locals use. It is a very safe, well lit walk, passing grocery stores and restaurant. We enjoyed delicious pizza from a restaurant just up the street from the hotel. Easy to get to from the bus station (8 min walk). Great option for travelers on a budget. Pool was closed for winter but looked fun and had a great sea view!

Room Tip: Room with a kitchenette and balcony are very large and have great views!

A friend and I stayed at the Berkeley for four nights in October and can thoroughly recommend this hotel. We used their efficient taxi service from the airport and were in our room at the hotel with a minimum of fuss. All the reception staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are well appointed and very clean. We had a balcony view of the harbour and could watch the cruise ships come and go. The hotel is near the bus station and a modern supermarket. Breakfasts are wonderful with a huge choice, all supervised by a lovely lady who was always willing to help us plan the day ahead. The Berkeley is not in the old town but is on a bus route with a regular service. Reception helped us arrange a guided trip, on a minibus to Mostar. This proved a brilliant day out, along the beautiful Croatian coast and into Bosnia. We will certainly return to Dubrovnik and the Berkeley. A wonderful family run hotel that provides real service with value for money.

We recently spent five days here with some friends. I had read the reviews and was really looking forward to our stay, and we were not disappointed. Right from the start all the staff were welcoming and extremely friendly. They recommended places to visit and eat and all of them were amazing. The rooms were spotlessly clean and very spacious, breakfasts were delicicous, freshly cooked every morning, and the coffee was delicious!
All in all we had a lovely stay and couldnt fault it at all.

Room Tip: We had a room on the first floor which was right by the pool, there was no view as such, but it didn...

This is a new (approx 7 yrs old) hotel, family-owned and run. The family were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. They arranged an airport transfer, booked our boat trip and made reservations at restaurants for us. The rooms are spacious and clean. Our room was on the third floor and had a lovely view of Gruz harbour. We enjoyed watching the huge cruise liners come and go in the harbour. The hotel is near some excellent restaurants (especially Amfora) and is well placed for visiting the sights in Dubrovnik - just a short bus ride away from the old city. Highlights of our trip included a cable car ride, walking the city walls, a boat trip to 3 islands and a tour of the bays on a Segway! The views on all of these trips were amazing; Dubrovnik is such a beautiful city. The weather was good - blue skies and sunshine every day. I would definitely recommend staying at the Berkeley if you are coming to Dubrovnik for a city break.

Visited Croatia for the first time in September 2014, we spent 10 days at this hotel. We found all the staff to be friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and hotel breakfasts were delicious. The staff at the front desk go out there way to help you, the location of this hotel is prefect and close to the port and local buses. Wifi is excellent in this hotel. Would certainly return to this hotel and recommend to friends and family.

Stayed for 3 nights with group of friends. Located minutes from the new port and a short bus drive away from the old town the No. 8 bus leaves from outside the hotel and is just five stops to the entrance of the cable car. Reception and dining staff very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable, very quiet with good aircon. Breakfast was good selection of cereals, yogurts etc. and hot food cooked to order. Well worth its 3 star.
