We have recently returned from the Uvala in Dubrovnik. A good hotel with views over the bay, No 4 bus stops just outside the hotel for bus to Dubrovnik old town, buy ticks at hotel reception. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff are very friendly. Only drawback for us was, it would have been nice to have some comfy chairs in seating area.

My friend & I visted this hotel as we could not get booked in our hotel Spa and this hotel Spa was recommended via our receptionist. We recieved a wonderful welcome & the same when we walked down to the Spa the manager also offered us a special deal to enable us to use all of the Spa facilities for a special price as we were not paying guests at the hotel, we had to decline as we did not have any beach wear with us as we were wanting massages. We were seen immediately and i had a deep tissue massage which was excellent and very reasonable price aournd £22 great value! my friend also had a massage and the staff took me up to a lovely cafe area while i waited and again the staff were very friendly and accomodating. You wont be dissapointed with this Spa thats for sure.

Just returned from a great break in Dubrovnik. We stayed at Hotel Uvala in Lapad which was a super hotel, spottlessly clean and modern - we had a great room with sea view and balcony. Spa facilities available and swimming pools also a nice terrace bar!! Bus to Dubrovnik old town stops right outside and runs frequently. We found a really good restaurant in Lapad, right round the opposite side of the bay called LEVANAT - great food and beautiful position with terraces overlooking the ocean - about 20 mins walk. Would thoroughly recomment Hotel, Restaurant, and, of course, Dubrovnik old town which is absolutely stunning.

Room Tip: Sea view is worth the extra money.

In short I really enjoyed my stay at this nice hotel. I was staying in this hotel during mid April for a conference and everything was functioning like it is middle of season. Staff was friendly, prices OK, food really good and I had a room with great view. I even got fruit basket with compliments...

Room Tip: Rooms on north-west side have great view

I enjoyed my stay at this beautiful hotel. The staff were extremely knowledgeable and courteous. They assisted me numerous times with sightseeing queries. The city bus stops directly outside the hotel every 15 minutes and goes directly to Pile Gate. It is very easy to negotiate and is the best mode of transportation to the Old Town. The pool offers a great view of the sea, and the complementary breakfast buffet features an enormous selection of fresh local food.

We really liked this hotel. For less than £68 per night we had the best room in the hotel (406), which had two balconies, one for the bedroom one for the "living area", and overlooked the bay. Great breakfast, lots if variety, even supplying soya milk. Staff extremely helpful, eg giving guide to dubrovnik plus map. The hotel has its own restaurant, a small but warm indoor pool, and an outside pool. It also had a bar, which is not too dear, and a "health spa". Bed comfortable, room clean, and well insulated - no noise from outside. The hotel is very well situated for the bay - it takes 30 seconds to walk down to a nice beach, and from there it's s short walk to a pedestrianised street which has lots of restaurants and bars, none of which are dear. (the carpet on our corridor and in our room probably need renewing). The no. 4 bus to the old town stops outside the hotel and costs 12kn (about £1.40) for a singkle ticket, tickets can be bought from kiosks (it's 15kn on the bus). To get to the hotel, we would recommend getting the airport shuttle to the old town and then the no. 4 from there. Dubrovnik itself is a fantastic place.

Room Tip: choose room 406

We have just returned from the Uvula hotel in Lapad and were totally impressed with everything.

The location of the hotel was perfect, not too much of a transfer from the airport, a short walk to the beach and a bus stop a few steps from the front of the hotel with a bus every 15 mins into Dubrovnik.

A few people have commented about half board at this hotel, the selection of food in the morning and the evening were not only varied but very tasty, the kitchen staff and waiting staff were very friendly and very well trained, I feel hungry writing this review and thinking about that lovely food. As for wine, we found the prices fair and had a glass or two most evenings.

We were on the second floor and had a great view of the bay, our room was comfortable, clean and incredibly well maintained by the housekeeping team, they got a good tip at the end of the week to show how great we thought they were.

We visited the indoor pool everyday as other reviewers have said if you want extra towels for a swim you have to pop down to the spa, it's only half a dozen steps and the staff are very nice, it's not the end of the world to walk down there and ask.

Lapad is a nice little town the sea was still warm enough to swim in during October, lots of bars, restaurants and shops were open, the town is very clean, with the streets being cleaned several times a day, my street at home is cleaned once a year if we are lucky. Each night we popped down into the town to watch the sunset before popping back to the hotel to eat.

One thing we didn't like about the town was the locals next to the supermarket swigging beer from bottles and the lady who works in the kiosk telling us the chap she had just served was a heroin addict, it put us off hanging around too long after dark as it was too much like home.

We found Croatia clean, friendly, pretty, relaxing, good value for money and a place that we would like to visit again.

We used to love Greece, but now we have visited Croatia we will have to go there again, we don't know why we haven't visited sooner.

Uvula 10 out of 10, thanks to the staff for a truly wonderful holiday.
