The fountain has a nice architecture and still supplies water.It is a great refresh point for travellers on summer time.
The 16 sided water fountain still supplies fresh drinking water. It is just inside the Pile Gate. It is not a destination or considered a "site". It is just there. And in it's time was built to impress any visitor to the town. At the other end of the Stradun (walking street) is another smaller fountain by the same builder.
Beautiful Fountain! I read some people complaining that it is too bad that you can only see the outside structure but hey people, it's a fountain, I don't know what did you expect to see?!
Its picturesque and a great piece of work but you only see the outside structure and its just there !
Just after the entrance of the Pile gate and opposite the Franciscan Monastery lies this fountain. Very old and very useful still supplying clean drinking water. Nice place to sit and watch the world go by - they sell ice-cream just by it cheaper than further down the street.
