I have to rate Dubrovnik old town as one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited. From the narrow side streets, stunning buildings and the terracotta rooftops it literally glistens with an atmosphere that you have to experience. Everywhere you look is a feast for the eyes, but you also have great bars, cafes and restaurants at your fingertips. To fully appreciate this wonderful place you really have to walk along the city walls. It costs about £9 each but is really worth it as you can see parts not visible from the ground. You also have a great view of the coastline. There are quite a few steps so it would be a struggle for anyone with dodgy knees or with a disability. I think it would be unsuitable for young children too as at times the wall is quite low and they could possibly fall over the edge! There are cafes and toilets along the way if you need a sit down, and you can exit and return on the same day via the various entrances. It's up there with one of the best places I've ever been too.
