Dubrovnik held out against more of the invading forces passing through its region than any of its neighbours. And this helps explain why. The walls are among the most complete (if not THE most complete) I have ever seen. The combination of the stonework, the views over the town, the views of the sea and surrounding coast make this an absolutely must-do experience. Go in the morning, or as near sunset as you can get away with without being caught out at closing time - is a very good orientation of the city. Remember: you see the castle across from the west gate, sitting on its own jutting out into the sea? Yeah, that's included in your city walls ticket (but not vice versa) so after you've visited the walls, head over there.
