We stayed 4 nights in the "Royal Apartment", the Amoret's newest addition to its group of apartments. The Royal is in a historic medieval building right behind the big Cathedral in the old city, and it is very convenient to a grocery store, bakery, many restaurants and cafes, and all the sights of the old city. The apartment was renovated just 1 year ago and is very modern, clean, and well furnished. On the main floor is the full kitchen, dining table with 4 chairs, bathroom, and living room with couch and tv. Upstairs is the bedroom, loft-style. Free wireless is provided. The owner, Branka, speaks excellent English and she was super friendly and helpful, meeting us on our arrival, providing lots of useful information, and helping us with the difficult car parking issues in Dubrovnik just outside the pedestrianized old city. She also cheerfully accommodated our request for a late checkout (several hours) on our last day. We couldn't have asked for a better host and we enjoyed the apartment tremendously. We give the Apartments Amoret an unqualified 5.0 rating on all counts.
One piece of advice if you are bringing a car to Dubrovnik and plan to stay in the pedestrianized old city (within the walls) -- coming into Dubrovnik from the main road (highway 8) you will be tempted to park at the big "Old Town Public Parking Garage" on the hill above the old city. It seems a good place to leave your car for a multi-day stay. But to get down to the old city from there, you have to haul your luggage down almost 200 steps and then walk several blocks to the Pile Gate entrance -- not a pleasant or easy experience. It's better to look for a space on-street near the Ploce Gate and buy "daily parking" permits (85 kuna per 24 hour period) that you put on your windshield. [Branka can advise you where to buy those daily permits.] Even if you end up having to park blocks away from the gate, it's still easier to get to the apartments (no steps) than if you park atop the hill.
We really liked the Royal Apartment, but all of Branka's apartments are excellent.
