“Mixed feelings about this Apartment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

We could walk to the area of Lapad in 10 - 15 minutes but it was down a steep hill which was not ideal to come back with children & buggy/shopping. The roof top pool had a nice view put the pool was very small and not heated. Copacabana beach was within 15mins+ walking via the capm site but it is not a sandy beach, it's very stoney so not ideal for family day out!

The bus goes to the old town from close to the apartment and cost €2 per person per journey. They let SO many people on the bus that its hard to breathe so get a taxi for €10.00 if there is a few of you travelling.

The apartment was very basic and not as per the picture on website. The room was small and decor was dated. It was not a 4 star property by any means. The bathroom was also small and very dirty tiles with lots of ants. The bed was not comfortable and we woke with bite marks each morning :( The WiFi did not work nor did the fridge despite asking 2 members of staf at recpetion, it was never resolved.

We got collected at the airport on arrival which was nice but at €35.00 we found it expensive. The coach took us back on our return for less then €10 each and child was free.

Despite the problems the staff were friendly. There were some turtles living on the property which was nice to see - my daughter was fascinated!

Room Tip: ask for a large clean room with working WiFi and fridge

Villa Antea is in the Lapad district of Dubrovnik. Damir at reception was very welcoming & helpful. We were about 5-10 minute walk from Copacabana Beach & about 10-20 minute walk from Lapad Beach, grocery store, bakery and numerous restaraunts & coffee bars. The #6 bus stop to Dubrovnik Old Town was just down the road & runs about every 10 minutes. The area where Villa Antea is located is very quite. Our room was equiped with an electric water pot, toaster, plates/flatware & a small refrigerator. There was also a clothes drying rack & table/chairs on the spacious deck. Our room was very clean & comfortable. At under 100USD per night, we felt that it was a great value. We will choose Villa Antea for our next trip to Dubrovnik.

Have just returned from 1wk stay at Villa Antea we found the staff very helpful and friendly. Conveniently situated for easy access to all nearby attractions. The beach is within easy access as are the restaurants, supermarkets, shops and bank, harbour and bus stop. We found the rooftop pool area clean and well equipped with toilets BBQ area. Towels are changed daily, remember to leave them on the floor to be changed.
I would advise anyone going to Croatia to take sterling currency and change it in the banks. Some travellers had taken euro's but the prices were hiked up a lot more than the kuna, therefore they were exchanging their euro's (which they'd already changed in the UK) into kunas.
Damir is very helpful and kindly gives you all of the local information on arrival with a drink of local sherry and fresh figs. The only thing I would point out that there are no air vents in the lovely furnished ,well equipped studio that we stayed in and it got quite damp in there when cooking or showering. We feared the mosquitos would attack us if we left doors open as we had got a few bites in general. However saying that I would definitely return there and would recommend the apartments to friends and family.

Room Tip: The one bedroom apartments have a balcony adj to the room, some with spectacular views.

Having booked a double room with villa antea, arriving with anticipation of whether the room will live up to our expectations, we should not have worried !! Everything was better than the reviews mentioned.
Room 13 !!??!! has a great view of the river entrance to the port, ship enthusiasts will not be disappointed since you have a clear view across to the bridge and can watch small local boat, local area island hopper ferries or huge cruise liners on a daily basis, but we didn't hear them arrive or leave !!
The room has everything a self catering holiday could ask for ... never mind the essentials of a terrace with a view, the ensuite bathroom, the fridge for cooling the wine and beers .. but international TV (if you REALLY want to keep up with business and headlines), free WIFI connection throughout, kettle, toaster and even complete cutlery and crockery.

The complex boasts an infinity dip pool on the roof, too cold for my liking in May but was certainly popular for a relaxing tired feet at the end of a busy day walking around the sights. The poolside loungers and terrace furniture were also popular in the afternoon, sitting around having a relaxing drink in the sun, if the wind gets up a little just move inside to more terrace furniture with a great view over the river and estuary entrance.

The local bus number 6 picks up and drops off within 1 minutes walk from villa antea and drops you at the old town gates where most of the tourist areas are ... who could ask for more ?? Skipping the tourist ares after a few days you have plenty of walking routes close by that take you around the peninsula and down to the promenade through some striking scenery.

DIMIR works hard manning the reception between 14:00 and 21:00 but is always there with information, willing to chat, make reservations on trips for you, even if they are not the ones they recommend.
Self catering means shopping at a supermarket, TOMMYS is always recommended down in the town but we found the smaller supplies shop in the close by camping site had everything we wanted and their prices were pretty much the same.

Certainly good value for money, a well maintained complex and happy staff .... apart from the wooden floors making it impossible for people to be quiet leaving or arriving back in the early hours ... you would find it difficult to complain about VILLA ANTEA !!!

Room Tip: Neighboring rooms can cause disturbance over night, so a corner room as high as possible will be the...

I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Dubrovnik. The rooms are very nice, clean and well equipped with everything you'll need during your stay. The area was spacious with a beautiful, sunny patio which overlooked a garden and had sea views. The rooftop terrace and pool had stunning views.
The staff was above and beyond friendly, helpful and all were an absolute delight. Antun and his wife were so welcoming and Damir provided us with so much information and was helpful each and everyday. The location was perfect with buses close by to bring you into old town and was within walking distance to the promenade area and sea resorts. This was a great deal for the price.

Excellent value for money; we had a two bed apartment which was very well equipped, and even had a coffee machine with insulated mugs. The place was spotless, and as mentioned by others, the receptionist is very helpful (and entertaining). The infinity pool is a great place to watch the sun go down.
We paid for the airport transfer - well worth it. The location is good; near a beach and shops, and a bus ride from the Old Town. We walked it once, but it's a bit of a hike.
We loved the walk on the Old Town Walls,( get the audio guide) and my kids (aged 18 - 23) said their favourite activity was sea kayaking to Lokrum.

Many thanks for a fab stay, we had apartment no 10 and loved it. We expected it to be smaller as had booked a studio, however it was bigger. the kitchen area was slightly seperate (there is a wall partition between the bedroom and dining area) then the bedroom leads on to a balcony which looks toward the harbour/sea in the distance. We couldnt have wanted more. The shower was fine, spacious and very clean, as was everwhere else. Kitchen has all we needed so cooked breakfast each money before trekking out. The infinity pool was very cold as expected early May but we chilled with a few beers from the shop on the sun loungers for a good few hours each day soaking up the sun. It was fantastic. Not exactly central but a bus ride away or a nice 5/10 min stroll away in any direction gets you to bars, restaurants, shops and most inportantly views of his beautiful place. P.S Thanks to the lovely guy who gave us the map and area info, he was exceptionally friendly and very informative. Cheers Villa Antea. xx
