“Isolated at End of Lapad Area of Dubrovnik”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013

Nice hotel with large selection buffets for both breakfast and dinner of both cold and hot choices that are pretty good compared to most hotels. Rooms are smallish and at 3 meters wide a bit narrow but comfortable beds, standard bathroom, etc. Wifi in the rooms is good reception and free. All rooms face the sea right below and have small balconies with chairs and small table to sit outside and watch the sun go down. Swimming pools on both the lower first floor (outdoor) and one on the terrace (T on the elevator floor selection panel) that is indoor with two large hot tubs. Indoor pool not noted well to guests as only "swimming pool" sign goes to the first floor outdoor one but Terrace doesn't mention its indoor pool very well. No. 4 bus goes from hotel to Pile Gate of the Old City area in about 15 min. and runs by every 20 min. so a comfortable, non-confusing way to get back and forth. Turnaround point is the Pile Gate and Palace Hotel so can't really get lost. Buy 12 HRK tickets in advance at the hotel Reception area as it is cheaper than getting them on the bus and saves time. Need one ticket for each direction and stamp them on entering the bus with the reverse or blank white side of the ticket UP - not with printed side up (which might otherwise seem logical).

We stayed at this hotel about a month ago, so it's technically still the off season for tourism in Dubrovnik, but this hotel whilst being quiet on the guest front, is situated so conveniently!
Being just north of Dubrovnik old town you can easily get a local bus from outside the front of the hotel to the town in just 10 minutes.
In addition, you can walk down to the local suburb that the hotel is in (Lapad) within a few minutes where there are plenty of restaurants cafes etc.
The hotel itself is smart, clean and the staff are a real credit.
The bonus with this hotel is that all rooms are sea facing so no need to worry about facing one of the many hills that surround the area.
Only thing I will say is that it's probably better to go bed and breakfast, and get a nice lunch and dinner outside the hotel as we started off on half board and we had to pay for anything we drank, even water, and it was epensive in the hotel compared to the local restaurants. But I am thinking that the hotel isn't really resort style set up more a luxury place to stay when visiting the area.
But all in all I loved the hotel, Dubrovnik is gorgeous and the country is breath taking :)

This is my second time to Dubrovnik and we stayed here one night before heading to Split.

I was kind of expecting a bit more from a five star hotel. The rooms looked very plain, kind of dated.

View was amazing from our balcony though

The receptionist seemed a bit false. Kind of forced. The breakfast selection was great.

The bus just goes from outside the hotel to the Old City which is very handy but I think if we were to return, I'd look for somewhere else.

The Palace lives up to a strong four star rating. Good pools but the cleverly crafted rock areas allowing you to sun bathe then fall into the sea are even better. Great views from all rooms and the suite we had was really spacious. All the staff are friendly and helpful and the concierge work is good. Several restaurants serving fresh "local" food and the prices are not too aggressive. You can take #4 bus into the Old City for about £1 and it takes about 15 minutes. Other guests seem to be a few Brits, Japanese, Finns and Russians - the last group rather like to towel-hog dinners from early morning. A very relaxing hotel.

If you can get a good price its worth the money however it is just lacking that excellence that would make it amazing.

The hotel is situated in lapad about a 15 minute bus journey from the old town.

Lovely indoor and ourdoor swimming pools with jacuzzi and sauna.

Very clean and friendly place.

Staff were nice also.

Breakfast was a buffet with a selection of fried, grilled sausages bacon eggs etc. and healthy options such as fruit and different cheeses. Very well put together breakfast menu.

The rooms are just okay decorated similar to a days inn or jurys inn. Nothing that stands out to say wow.

We had a balcony on the top floor which was lovely...however in my opinion it is a 4 star hotel as it says due to the facilities but with 3 star rooms.

A good spot all round though.

This is the first time in Dubrovnik and it is a beautiful city with great people, most of whom we encountered speak English. The hotel is a bit far away from everything so you need to take a city bus at 30 kns round trip. A 5 star hotel should have a free shuttle to old town etc, does not. They also do not have a store to get items of need so you have to go into the city. Upon check in they did not give an orientation of the hotel, nothing so we had to find out along the way...the pool bar is not open and there is really nothing to do at the hotel other than swim which has a great pool both outdoors and indoors with five star facilities....the room itself is so so a bit dated, very small TV which does not matter unless you watch TV...has 2 twin beds pushed together...no welcome wine or water...in a five star hotel you should have daily water bottles given...not so here. The breakfast buffet is good. The hotel is rather empty and even with few guests we were put on level 1 so the view is not the best, higher up rooms would have much better views...however for the price it is ok. After taking a stroll down the street we found a hotel row by the bay with many restaurants and hotels and the prices are much better and more action due to the number of hotels, seemed to be more locals having coffee etc. We also found great prices outside of Dubrovnik in the hotel area....wine by the bottle as little as 27 kns vs 170 kns at hotel.

Room Tip: get higher rooms for better view and closer to reception...we think you have to ASK for whatever you...
