“Stroll through the gardens and visit the apothecary”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

Have passed this so many times with the intention of stopping in when they were open. So we did and enjoyed the solitude of the cloister. As you walk in, the pharmacy that was started in 1317 is still open. The cloister has a variety of frescos that have been restored recently. The columns are pretty with a quiet garden in the centre. The upper floor was added after the 1667 earthquake when the building was rebuilt/repaired. This section is open only to the Franciscans.

“Worth a quick visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2012

We took a walk through the pharmacy and enjoyed the museum area and gardens. 30-45 minutes was plenty of time for us to see what we wanted to see here.

“Quick visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

Beautiful cloister, some afrescos and paintings. Well preserved pharmacy in the museum, with old instruments used in the past. There is a pharmacy working in the entrance, that claims be the oldest one in Europe. Quick visit, about 30 minutes to see all.

“Serene and beautiful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

Beautiful frescoes on the wall and a silent and serene setting. A welcome respite from the heat and a chance to visit the oldest pharmacy in Europe.

“An oasis of quiet between the tour parties”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

This is a superb survivor, the courtyard and cloisters are exquisite, and then there is the original pharmacy as an added bonus. Unmissable.
