“good hotel poor food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2014

we asked for a room with a sea view, we had partial sea view which was a room at the side of the hotel, we were disappointed by this, the hotel room was small but very clean with the room cleaned every day, the balcony we had was also very small, we did not have any sun on the balcony in the afternoon and evening,
the location and the scenery was stunning,
the food in the evening was ok, would have enjoyed it more if there was less fish dishes on the menu,
the pool areas and the sunloungers on the rocks were brilliant,
i would go back again if i had a better room, bigger and a front view from the hotel room

As part of a two centre holiday we stayed in Neptun Hotel Dubrovnik on second leg of holiday this hotel is very nice clean well kept etc. However found the rooms to be a little on the small side with no tea/coffee facility which I would have liked. The swimming pools one fresh one sea water are lovely and also the sun beds on the rocks have to be seen to be believed. The Neptune bar and the On the Rocks bar very nice and lively especially On the Rocks bar which stays open late. The bar person in Neptune bar is the most friendly and nicest person and is also very helpful. The bar food is very nice and great for lunch etc. The food for breakfast was very nice good selection. This hotel is very well situated as it is just near bus terminus for old town of Dubrovnik and the bus service is very good.

Would return to this hotel and would recommend it.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2014 via mobile

This is the second year running we have stayed at this hotel and have again had a very enjoyable stay here.

The hotel is an eight storey building overlooking the sea, located at Babin Kuk about a 20 minute journey from the centre of Dubrovnik.

On arrival we were quickly dealt with by Reception, all the staff speak good English. On entering the room all the surfaces were clean as was bathroom, we had same cleaner as last year so knew she did a good job.

Bedroom: consisted of twin beds( extra pillows in wardrobe), TV, kettle, safe( free to use), and small balcony with sea view.

Bathroom: reasonable size with shower( no bath), hair dryer.

Breakfast served between 6.30 and 10.30 in large Mediterraneo restaurant, down steps by swimming pool( this is surprisingly small with correspondingly small number of sun loungers). Plenty of choice of food which is of a decent quality,self-service and sit where you like either inside or out. The restaurant is located right above the sea so outside tables offer fabulous views out to sea and along coast. New this year a chef is on hand to cook omelettes, fried or poached eggs whilst you wait.

Tip1: for the second year running no mention was made by Reception that a swipe card they give needs to be taken with you for entry into restaurant.

Getting about: too far to walk into Dubrovnik but excellent bus service operates. Bus stop is 5 minutes walk from main entrance, service number 6 runs every 10 minutes from early morning until very late at night seven days a week. It takes about 20 minutes to get to Dubrovnik, stop is at Pile Gate just outside city walls. Tickets can be obtained in advance at Reception and each journey costs 12 kuna( 15 kuna if you pay on bus).

Tip 2: if you intend using the bus a lot check out the Dubrovnik Card, actually two cards for either 1,3 or 7 days. One ticket offers specified number of journeys on bus whilst other gains free entry to City Walls, some museums and discount at certain restaurants. It can save you money and can also be obtained at Reception.

Behind bus stop is a small park, walk across this and you find a small shopping mall with mini-market, bar/restaurants, shops and 2 x ATMs.

When entering breakfast restaurant you cross footpath, if you follow this it runs alongside shoreline to Lapad where you will find more bars, restaurants and a ice cream / pastry cafe.

Dubrovnik is a lovely vibrant city and, depending on your point of view, the hotel may be too detached from the city centre, however we did not mind travelling in and out. Babin Kuk offers a more relaxed atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Tip 3: Dubrovnik is very popular as a port of call for cruise ships which means the city streets, city walls and cable-car can be very congested when the large ships are in port. Google "Dubrovnik cruise ship schedule" or go Croatia Traveller website to see when ships are visiting and so avoid worst of the crowds.

All the staff at the hotel are pleasant, never walked passed one without them smiling and saying hello. Check-out is at 11am.

Tip 4: we had a 6 hour wait from check-out to airport pick-up time. Ask at Reception about using free facilities of fitness centre where there are cubicles for getting showered or changed. Much better than getting changed in toilets!

Couple of points prevented me from rating this hotel as excellent. No case rack in room so previous guests seem to have kept cases in different parts of room resulting in quite a lot of scuff marks on lower parts of bedroom walls. Needs a lick of paint. Also air conditioning was a bit noisy.

Sorry for long review but hope it is helpful to you. After two visits we would definitely recommend this hotel.

Stayed for 3 nights at the Hotel Neptun with a friend. Our room looked out onto the beautiful Adriatic ocean where we saw the sunset every night. Free breakfast every morning was fantastic - a great selection of fruit, meats, and various types of eggs (made to order). The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful and the seats on the beach by the water was beautiful with steps and ladder into the ocean. There were 3 other pools to lounge by, a great gym facility and an indoor pool. The bus stops right outside of the hotel so it is very easy to get into old town. The cleaning staff also stocked us up with treats when she cleaned our room which was a bonus. Only down side is that it is a bit on the expensive side, but I would recommend the splurge and stay at this hotel for a relaxing vacation.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the ocean are beautiful.

I have just spent two weeks at this hotel, in small cramped rooms. Room 410 Cracked wasbasin
Small freestanding Wardrobe, and a small bed. Eventually offered new room 406 Slightly bigger and guess what a cracked washbasin, Room no 3 was 306 OK washbasin not damaged.Food quality was poor, never very hot and a poor selection. Had to keep asking for Toiletries to be replenished. Outdoor area on the rocks sunbed area very cramped.Advertises 3 Restaurants,
But if you are half board you can only use the Buffet, you have to pay extra for the other two.
This has already been brought to the attention of the Hotel. This is not a 4* standard hotel.
Reception all Bright and shiny but deep down not good.

Room Tip: 306 is best of the bunch. Sea View are nice but come at a cost.

We stayed two nights here and really enjoyed it. We had a sea view and enjoyed sitting on the balcony and sipping wine. The breakfast has a great selection. You get tour buses staying here. The water is very clear but no beach. Has two pools and plenty of beach chairs. The restaurants on the properties are all very good. The only downside if there is any, is the old town is about 2.5 miles away, but bus number 6 is next to the hotel and will take you there with no problems. Buy a one day bus pass from the hotel first. The multi-day pass is not worth getting. Definitely would go back again.

Room Tip: Get a seaside room on the upper floors.

Firstly to say if you are looking for boutique this hotel is likely not for you, it's a resort complex consisting of 4 hotels ranging from 3-5 star, with the same shared facilities. On the sea, the views to the neighbouring islands are stunning. There is no beach but you swim off the flat rocks into the crystal clear sea, which is blue flag. Breakfast is adequate, with omelettes cooked to order. Rooms, were booked Neptun but were given a room in Ariston which states is 5 star but more 4. Recently part refurbished but not modern as such, tiny definitely want a sea view on high floor to appreciate the views, the rooms on the back overlook the road. Location is an area called Babin Kuk, the bus terminus is a couple of minutes walk from the hotel of which a short 15 minute bus ride takes you to Pile Gate. Purchase your return tickets from reception, it's no 6 bus. Returning from Dubrovnik catch it at the opposite side of the road from drop off. Note at peak times it gets very busy and is a bit of a bun fight to get on, suggest time your return. Bus very frequent, every 10 minutes so if you miss one don't worry. Dubrovnik is lovely to visit, but very busy. We were happy that we were staying on the coast, just a short bus ride away.

Room Tip: High floor, sea view a must
