“Excellent Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

Of all of the hotels on Lapad, this has to be the one with the best views, best facilities, best location.; Other hotels might not have everything, but this has 3 pools, direct access to the sea, great food, great spa, almost beside bus stop, fantastic views, friendly staff, all that you need for relaxing and enjoyable holiday.

Room Tip: All Rooms have a sea view

Spent 8 nights at the Neptun at the end of May. Unfortunately weather in Dubrovnik wasnt the best and there had been some storms prior to our arrival which meant the two big pools were closed. The decking surrounding one of the pools had been pulled up and it took the hotel over a week to put it back down. We managed to get seats at the smaller pool but many people didnt get seats, there was only room for about 20/25 people. The other two pools were only opened one day before we left.
Breakfast in the hotel is ok. Fruit is tinned peaches/pears/pineapple, Nice selection of breads.Scrambled eggs with greasy bacon... Yoghurts, selection of ham & cheese. You get quite sick of it after a day or two to be honest.
From previous reviews I was expecting to he hugged by the staff when we arrived ... they were pleasant , nobody was overly helpful or friendly. We had to ask for the wifi password, ask for a map of the area..... , just some things you would expect would be explained on check in ...
There is a bar right beside reception which we found a strange place for a "relaxing" drink ... but the other beach bar wasnt open so this was the only option.
The room was small and the balcony very small. We had a sea view room on the 6th floor, but as the weather was so poor we didnt end up using the balcony at all , we had hoped to be able to sit out and enjoy the evening sun with a glass of wine but it was too chilly and windy . Summer arrived "late " in Dubrovnik this year. The shower in the bathroom was very small also. Room was cleaned daily and fresh towels etc provided. TV didnt have much to watch, news channels mostly ... the usual.
The bus stop is convenient and you pay 24kuna for a return ticket to the town ( from reception) its a little more expensive to buy on the bus ( not much ) . The last bus runs at 1.10am and when returning from the old town you get the bus just accross the road from where it drops off . It just swings around. Its the number 6.
We didnt book any tours through the hotel as they were more expensive than the offers outside the hotel . We booked Medjugorie and Mostar with Lea Travel in Lapad and if you pay cash they will reduce the price a little more. 300kuna.
I had a massage in the spa , this was nice and better priced than home , but as the treatment rooms are just upstairs from the indoor pool you have to try and block out the screams and shouts from kids in the pool so its not really as relaxing as you would want.
Lapad is just a 10minute walk by the sea along a little pathway. Some nice restaurants but not much else . There are a couple of ATM machines, one just beside the travel agents. Restaurants are reasonably priced. The hotel restaurant Zoe is fine. We ate lunch in it a couple of times . Would have liked better selection on the menu.
The hotel is fine, location is beautiful on a sunny day ( if you get one ) and its nice to be just a ten minute bus trip from the old town... i think we would have enjoyed it more had the weather been better and the other pools open.

Just back from a fantastic four nights here. We arranged pick up from airport and lovely car was there waiting as arranged and got a commentary on the way to the hotel.. Great start. We then checked in and got a lovely sea view room .. Stunning views.

We booked for breakfast and this was served buffet style and was excellent with lots of choice.

As people have said there is a frequent bus service to the old town but any visitors should take a walk around the peninsula as the views are lovely.

I notice some people on here are not happy that the pool was not open. Our experience was that one very small pool was not operating but was back up and running two days ago so we had no issue.

We ate at Zoe restaurant one night and took advantage of the 10 per cent discount and this was really good value.

All in all a good time and glad we booked at the neptun

Room Tip: Get a sea view as high as possible .. Visit the caves bar around the coast for a romantic drink

We stayed at this hotel for two glorious nights! Our room was a nice size, complete with balcony and a lovely view of the sea and Elaphiti Islands. Our first night there, after a long and tiring flight, I was hoping to just relax and have a decent meal. We ate at their Restaurant Zoe and it was the perfect introduction to Croatian food! Everything from start to finish was delicious...such as my Cream of Mushroom and Asparagus soup, the Sea Bass and then the Lemon Ice Cream (with actual bits of lemon). All this decadence overlooking the Adriatic Sea with a showstopping sunset!! The staff throughout the hotel are very accommodating and courteous! We didn't really get to make use of any of their many pools, but I did get to dip my feet in one and had there been more time, I might have made use of the fresh water pool that overlooks the Adriatic. This hotel is also just a super short walk away from the bus stop that takes you into the old town. I believe the bus costs about 12 euro each way and the Old Town is a must-see! Lastly, breakfast is included and they have quite a spread...meats, eggs. cheeses, cereals, coffees, juices, potatoes, yummy crusted bread...oh my! I would definitely stay here again!!

Room Tip: Try and say in a room with a sea view. It's worth it!

I can understand that within the last week here in Dubrovnik, the wind has been high and thus the waves. When we arrived last week, the sea was rising up over the lower level pools, and over the next few days all of the decking around the pool was uprooted, broken and scattered around the place. When the weather improved, there was no effort made to refill the drained pool and repair the decking. Asked at reception today would the lower pools be open, as it was a beautiful calm day with flat sea, we were told 'of course', and that it would be open within the next few hours, and in the meantime we could enjoy the freshwater pool on the upper level. May I just point out that there is sufficient space for about 20 guests around this pool, and that all the loungers were occupied or 'saved' by 11am. After hanging around for an hour, there seemed to be no attempt at repairing or refilling the pools so we went elsewhere to enjoy the sun. On returning to the hotel at 6pm, we were disgusted to see that the pools and surroundings were in the exact same state as they had been that morning. There is no excuse for this as the conditions had been perfect al day for repair work. Hotel Neptun has a lot to answer for, charging guests full price for sub-standard services. Didn't get to avail of the services we paid hard earned money for, after an entire week at Hotel Neptun. Disgusted is an understatement.

We went the week of 13th may 2013. From the moment we arrived to the time, sadly, we had to leave. Everything went well and we were looked after so well. We caught this location at a good time, few people; not too hot; not cold. If you are looking for a relaxing yet scenic break this is the place. You can walk for miles; you can get the bus - it's so easy; the food is very good with plenty of choice; the spa and treatments are very good, free spa.
Do not miss the opportunity to take a trip to Montenegro and the amazing city of Kotor. It's worth the trip even though the coach journey is uncomfortable, many twisty roads.
Things to note: I wouldn't take small children, under 5, the steep cliffs from a worrying point of view and also there isn't much for them to do. The rooms are basic, but very clean, didn't need the A/c so no idea if it worked. Make sure you get a sea view above floors 3. The views from the balcony are spectacular. Swimming in the sea only advisable for strong swimmers this time of year. Do not expect sand beaches, the beaches are mainly very well designed flat areas amongst the rocks. The main outside swimming pools are sea temperature and salt water, small but good fresh water pool available inside and outside.

Relax and enjoy this un spoilt, un commercialised (getting that way), location.

We were here week 21.4 > and hotel was good : location ( Babin Kuk ) near sea , good service , good breakfast , good rooms ( especially sea panoramic ) , gym , pool inside / outside , sauna, public transport to city ( bus stop near hotel ) , also restaurants in walking distance ( Komin and so on ) good wines , local beer ok , good food . I recommend visit Dubrovnik in spring or in autum because its very popular in summer. If you like to visit Mostar or Kotor take from airport rent car , its worth of it and cheap . We had brand new VW POLO ( diesel ) and 1 week was something about 170 € ( includes unlimited km:s + extra insurance) ! The price might be higher in high season but its still ok. And last , visit this hotel and Dubrovnik area !

Room Tip: select room ( sea panoramic ) and from third floor or upper !
