“Feels like a boutique hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2012

I stayed at the Hotel Lapad for 3 nights while visiting Dubrovnik and I have to say the hotel and its staff are excellent nothing was to much trouble for them to do. I arrived early and they looked after me - I was able to change and lie by the pool till my room was ready. While I was there it was the hottest summer in 50 years and having the pool was wonderful to cool off by.

They are just across the road from the bay / port from where the major cruise ships dock. But also right next door to get boats to go out for day trips if you want to. You also get a nice breeze coming off the water.

I had a small request and they sorted it in no time at all. It is quite a large hotel but you feel as though it is boutique hotel. The breakfast buffet is great. And the food available during the day from the pool / bar is really nice.

Would recommend this hotel indeed for all types of travellers. It is only a 3 - 5 minute (70kuna) cab ride into to Old Town main gate.

Room Tip: I had a standard sea view room and it was great with a little balcony but all that you needed. I wa...

Spent 1 week at the Hotel Lapad in Dubrovnik late July 2012
Quality accommodation with contemporary decor throughout
Fastest check in ever. No hassle of filling in information cards etc just leave passports and collect them next day

Reception staff were extremely helpful and pleasant
Waiting staff are very hard working and professional

Stayed in a side seaview room with balcony in the new part of the building. Meal plan was just breakfast as we like to eat out on an evening

Room attendant did a great job, sometimes we returned from breakfast to find the room had been cleaned and towels etc had been replenshed.Superfast service.

The evening entertainment was not to out taste. Typical hotel singer / trio with a wide variety of songs in an attempt to please all ages.

Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice including fruits, eggs or breads etc. Always fresh and replenished regularly

As others have stated, the pool loungers were all taken by 7.30am. People actually stood in line, towels under arms, waiting for the pool attendant to issue out the loungers.
This did not bother us, as we had no intention of lying around a pool when there was so much to see in beautiful Dubrovnik

Booked a full day trip to Historical Montenegro (Kotor) through the hotel . This was excellent value at £36 each. Would certainly recommend this tour

Location was lovely with views over the harbour. 20mins walk to the beach and 30mins walk to the old town

Nice restaurants and a couple of bars in the area. Enough to entertain if you did not want to travel to far for a drink/meal on an evening

A couple of small negatives which stops us giving an excellent rating

1) Room Air Conditioning is controlled to a minimum temperaure of 23c by the hotel.
This temperature is not always cool enough in the heat of the summer months

2) No courtesy room available for freshen up before travelling home.
Having been unsuccessful in securing a late check out. Staff suggested the use of the lobby toilets for change of clothes etc.
Not really acceptable for a 180 room hotel of this standard

We had a wonderful stay in the Hotel Lapad Dubrovnik and would have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation to anyone considering a visit to Dubovnik

Room Tip: Rooms in the older part of hotel looked to have more character Request sea view well worth the extr...

Choosing a hotel in Dubrovnik is not easy. The accomodation at Hotel Lapad is not very special; there are few comfortable public rooms; the restaurant atmosphere is dire and sadly it seems to appeal to those who are pleased that a tv is put up by the pool to watch football. But waht it does provide, is a sense that this is a maritime city and that the sea plays an important part in the life of the local people and always has. Being just on the quay side means the yachts and ferry boats are part of the atmosphereand there is a good beach 20mins walk away. It also has some original features and is not a concrete monstrosity like many others on the Lapad peninsula. We were in the end satisfied with our choice for a first visit to Dubrovnik, but will consider alternatives if we revisit.

Room Tip: Don't plan to eat at the hotel; try the Orsan yacht club or the hotel next door.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for choosing Hotel Lapad for your holiday in Dubrovnik.
It's disappointing for us to read about mixed feelings after your stay with us.
We are very sorry you haven't enjoyed restaurant atmosphere and you found our accomodation not very special.
Many of our guest love the historic building with a nice setting overlooking the harbour and enjoy watching yachts and ferries passing by.

If you decide to come back to Dubrovnik in the future you are welcome to visit us again.
I am sure next time you will be more than satisfied and you will post a different review .

Kind regards,

Katica

My wife and I have just returned from a weeks stay at Hotel Lapad. Everything about the stay was fantastic, from the friendly greeting from the staff, to the spacious modern room was great. I had read a few negative reports but cannot understand why you would not enjoy such a beautiful hotel. The reception staff were very friendly and informative, and could do no more to help. Our room was modern, with a large double bed, a modern bathroom with bath and shower, and we had a small balcony that we could both sit on when the sun went away from the pool at around 6pm. The food was fantastic. Buffet breakfast had everything we needed and dinner at night was amazing with plenty to satisfy me, who is a very fussy eater. The location of the hotel is amazing. Overlooking Gruz harbour and watching the cruise ships berth was amazing. A 70 kuna fee(70p) took you on a water taxi to the harbour. The walk to the Old City is about 3km(40 minutes) but the no6 bus takes you in for 12 kuna. The Old City is amazing and the walls are a must as is the cable car ride. Outside the hotel you can catch a boat and do many, many tours. We did the 3 island tour taking in Kolocep, Sipan & Lopud.

Room Tip: Our room on 5th floor had a side view. I think rooms 510 & 610 would also have views of sea

Just come back from a fortnight at Hotel Lapad and thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

The hotel facilities were excellent (good pool, great bar & restaurant), well managed and exceptiontionally clean.

Despite the age and character of the hotel, the rooms were very modern, comfortable and again very clean.

The only issue is a small number of sun beds round the pool (for the number of rooms), but due only to limited space. There are, however, a number of beaches within reasonable walking distance to counter this.

The hotel is on a main bus route to the Old Town, so perfect for trips to the beautiful walled city of Dubrovnik.

Overall, a thoroughly recommended hotel.

I along with most of my family stayed here early July for my wedding. I am English, but chose to get married in Dubrovnik and what an excellent choice Hotel Lapad was!

The biggest praise goes to the staff that were very warm, welcoming and particularly friendly to the small children in our party (praise in particular goes to Kristina and Kiko).
The rooms and hotel facilities are very clean, breakfast was very good with a large choice of cereals, fruits, cakes and hot sections; I’d give it 10/10.

Our room was a superior double which was very luxurious with robes and slippers, although a couple in our party who were on holiday with their teenage daughter were not impressed with the glass section on the shower (and glass door on the bathroom) which allows persons in the bedroom to see you in the shower! However, there is also a shower over the bath. I believe this is only the case for the superior doubles as I went into a few standard doubles that didn't have this glass wall. My only regret was not booking a room with a balcony. My Mom and sisters all has standard doubles with a balcony and the view of the harbour was breathtaking!

The pool itself is a little small for the hotel which made it difficult to get a sun lounger, one thing to note is that you are given towels for use by the pool so if flying with hand luggage only you can leave beach towels off your packing list.

The beach is approx 10-15mins walk, turn left out of the hotel and follow the road. We had a disabled person in our party and she did this walk daily so it wasn't too strenuous. It is also easy enough to catch a bust to the old town, although a taxi doesn't cost much. If travelling definitely take Croatian Kuna and not Euros, some people in our party made this mistake.

Overall, a top hotel that everyone in our party said they would definitely stay here again (and there were 29 of us!).

Happy to answer any questions if needed.
