I recently spent parts of four days in Dubrovnik as part of a scouting trip for our company -- and was totally satisfied with my stay at Dubrovnik B&B. The city is the highest-priced location in Croatia by everyone's admission, so read reviews with that in mind -- and then look at this place's amazingly close location to the old city's Ploce Gate, wonderful hospitality and very helpful suggestions from owner Srdjan (pronounced Sir John), ultra-clean and pretty spacious rooms and proximity to two ATMs, restaurant, coffee bar, bakery, the local palmed swimming beach, laundry, taxi stand, cable-car, tour boats, main-square market, etc. to really appreciate it. Srdjan arranged a car for pick-up from the airport (nice for even road-warriors like myself to have a local with a name sign waiting in arrivals), took the time to recommend good places to eat, 'must-see' and 'don't bother' locations to visit, opening and closing times for attractions, offer to book a day trip to Montenegro, arranged a return car to the airport and many other tips/suggestions ... so top marks there. The location is on the BEST end of Old Town, opposite from the gate where tour boat buses/tourists swarm and thus ultra close to one of only two entrances to walk the city walls (see separate review on this must-see attraction), a short walk to the cable car to the mountain overlooking the city (spectacular views/photo ops, especially at sunset) and way close to tour boats to Locrum and other islands. I chose it for this reason alone, so the rest added to the experience. Rooms are up a fairly long stair case (pack lightly anyway, right?), but are spacious, very clean and mine overlooked the Adriatic and Ploce Gate! Close the shutters and the windows for a cozy night's sleep. The bathroom was very representative of European ones, spotless and with loads of hot water. Security is not an issue (two locked doors between the street and rooms). Know ahead of time there is no breakfast, but the wee coffee bar downstairs, the grand Adriatic-view restaurant or the bakery across the street allow grand choices. As with all trips abroad, do your homework ahead of time, know what you are doing with local assistance and go at things with yours eyes open ... and you'll totally enjoy this location!
They have four double rooms (ask for one of two front facing rooms) or the top-floor suite.
