This was very moving seeing actual photographs of the (mostly young) men from who lost their lives in the conflict in the city during the 90s. I was quite ignorant and still am, regarding the reasons for this war, but I was very touched by the tribute paid to them and the effort their friends and families and officials have made to keep their memories alive. For me it was a reminder of the tragedy of war and how we never seem to learn to work things out a better way and how much sorrow and devastation all these conflicts cause to ALL the people involved with or by them. Indeed, as this war was relatively recent I think it quite appropriate to acknowledge it in some way and thereby assist the process of grieving and move forward to a brighter future which is what I feel the dubrovniks have done.
