“Needed a bit more effort to translate info into English”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

This was a really nice museum atop a hill (get there by cable car). It was not expensive (£3 or so) and offered a wealth of photographs and memorabilia of the independence war. The only problem is that most of the information was in Croat only, not in English, or French, or any language, which made it hard to engage with content.

“Great place!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012

Really enjoyed this - great place to learn about a little told conflict. Nowhere in the old town like this, so worth the visit! Amazing local history to see what Dubrovnik under siege was like!

“Worthy of a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

Liked: This was a still up and coming museum but given that this museum is housed in a fort that was held by Croatian forces during the War in the early 1990s it was an excellent site. As they continue to develop this museum, I can only see this get better.

Disliked: It was a bit strange that if you went left after you entered the museum the artifacts were in English and if you went right, they were in the local language. It made me wonder if the story was different for English speakers.

I would definitely recommend a visit to this museum just so visitors can get a little bit of history of the war that I found to be missing in the rest of the city.

“Interesting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

Although this war was in my lifetime I didnt appreciate how many people died or were injured in this conflict. The museum made it real and shows how if a community can stick together they can over come anything. Its a shame this fortress has been left to ruin as it must of been a fantastic building in its day.

“Dubrovnik”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

We spent 3 days in this very charming city in the south of Croatia on the Adriatic. We visited the museum by riding the tram to the top of the small mountain. The history of this country is so fascinating. They have been involved in so many wars but are now living in peace. The museum is a must see. Plan on spending a few hours there. They have food and drinks with outdoor seating and a wonderful vew.

The walled city of Dubrovnik is wonderful. It is a trip back in time. Plan at least one full day there because it offers so many shops and so much history.
