“lovely location”

fab location right on the shore. nice food and extremely popular so you may wish to book a table. some dishes require ordering days in advance. house wine was okay and food very good without being stunning.

“The food not really value for money but the location and the view are nice.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013 via mobile

We had scampi, one grilled and one with tomato sauce. Approx. 150 Kuna per person. Six scampi is not enough for a main course. There was some ordinary rice with the grilled scampi. to the one with sauce - nothing. You have to pay extra for fries, vegetables, salad. They charged 15 Kuna per person for "couvert" - just to sit down. You could'nt get free water on tap, they only had water on bottle. It's also messy to eat scampi in tomato sauce! No wet napkins, just a silly and too small water bowl to clean your hands. You really needed a good hand wash after. The staff was okey but a little snotty and not always paying attention. We thought that it wasn't really worth the money but the location exactly by the sea was nice.

“Not all it's cracked up to be.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

This restaurant is beautifully located on the sea along the bay from Lapad beach. A scenic footpath, lit for night walking, will take you there. With tables on a terrace overlooking the bay this is the perfect spot for a quiet late night retreat from the noise of the city.

Unfortunately, food and service don't measure up to the spectacular first impression. This makes me wonder if the restaurant isn't just cashing in on a Lonely Planet recommendation, not bothering to keep its standards up. Service was, like in every restaurant we went to in Dubrovnik, rather poor. There was much waiting, staff who had discussions among the tables, no smiles, friendly chatting or offering of recommendations. This appears to be the Dubrovnik standard in the tourist high season. No better or worse than any other restaurant we went to.

The food itself was definitely not up to the gourmet standards prices seem to indicate they are aiming for. Seafood came piled on platters with no attempt at a presentation. For starter we had gratinated mussles (which was rather odd with crispy fried cheese on the mussle shells) and honey glazed prawns with sage (which was not too bad). Our 2-person seafood platter came swimming in an oily sauce, with two fried fish with a load of mussles on top. Some digging also revealed prawns and two octopi in the pile. At either end of the plate were arranged two slices of fried, boiled potato with some boiled vegetable and a salad leaf and half tomato respectively. This was apparently the "boiled potato side included" that we were promised. The fried sea bass was pretty good, the prawns, squid and mussles quite unremarkable.

The meal came to about 550 kn in total, including a glass of wine and some mineral water, which by Croatian standards is at the gourmet level. This food was not particularly much better than what you get at nearer to half the price in most Dubrovnik restaurants, and the service didn't match. The great location giving us a much needed quiet retreat did however save the evening.

“Shelter from the storm!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

Arrived during a thunderstorm and still managed to get a table overlooking the sea and out of the rain.

Very welcoming and a good selection of dishes.

We shared a starter of mussels in a tomato based sauce (plenty for two of us) followed by a veal escalope which was nicely cooked and presented. Along with a bottle of house wine we enjoyed our evening

“good food with a great view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

You have to walk a bit to find this place but well worth it once you do. grilled squid was excellent though the grilled vegetables were overdone and mushy. Octopus salad was also delicious.
