“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

I booked 4 nights in this hotel having read various reviews of it and I was not disappointed. The hotel is conveniently located approx. mid way between the main bus station (located at the harbour) and the old town, both being within walking distance. My room was comfortable, the breakfasts good and the staff very friendly and helpful (which is sometimes missing in larger hotels). It represented good VFM. Please note there is no bar (but good ones nearby) and no lift. Also the quickest way to walk to or from the main bus station involves negotiating 170 steps! Otherwise I can thoroughly recommend this hotel.

This is a small (total of 10 rooms) family run hotel located on a convenient bus route, although I would recommend walking to the old city as it only takes 20 minutes down hill and take the bus back. I tried to book a double room (no balcony) but there were none left so I was given a double with balcony at the same price, if I went again I would book the double with balcony. The room was comfortable and my only complaint was that they had used 2 top sheets on the bed so the sheet you were lying on pulled out during the night. The breakfast was buffet style and offered a good choice with cereals, fruit, yoghurt, toast etc. as well as hot choices such as omelets, crepes bacon & eggs etc which were cooked to order. The staff were friendly and helpful and considering that there is only one hotel within the city walls which charges an exorbitant price, the Hotel R represented an excellent choice and value.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a balcony.

We stayed here in mid-September. On the plus side, the front desk receptionist was very helpful in arranging our transportation to the airport. The room was large and the breakfast (included) was nice. The room furnishings were somewhat worn. Price was high for a basic hotel in the shoulder season. Too far from the old town.

Me and my husband have spent 4 days in Dubrovnik and stayed in this hotel becasue is has very good reviews on tripadvisor. All was true - basic but very nice and clean room, good breakfasts and very helpful stuff. The hotel is located about 20 min walk from the Old Town but just outside the hotel there is a bus stop and bus number 4 will take you to the Old Town in 7 min. Next to the hotel there are 2 very good restaurants (Bosnian cusine and Magellan with pizzas, pastas, fish, meat etc) - both lovely and we were eating there everyday. Can highly recommend Hotel R if you are going to visit Dubrovnik - great value and you won't be disappointed.

Hotel R is a tipic family hotel. The structure is very simple, but prices are good, specially in Dubrovnik, where hotels are really expensive. Old city is just 20 min walk far.
Rooms are simple, but good, with a/c. Breakfast is nice. Regular bus line just in front of the hotel.
Staff is very friendly, and always available to help.
I woud return there, for sure.
Recommended!

Room Tip: If possible, pay the difference, and stay in one of the balcony rooms. The view is nice, and the bal...

We stayed in the appartment with our two kids.
The service was more than great, extremely welcoming, helpful and nice.
The appartment was nicely equipped (even a washing machine), and the huge terrace is a plus.
Situation is 5 min from old town by bus (every 15 mn), better choice than walking (15-20 mn if you can take the heat).
Very nice pebble beach within 5 mn, down a long stairway.
All in all, very nice place, excellent service.
