“Perfect spot if you are heading out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012

As with most other reviews I found the property clean, the staff friendly and the breakfast good. This is not five star luxury but is a lovely little hotel with a balcony and view. In my opinion you get what you pay for and this place was good stopover before heading away to the islands.

I would not recommend staying here for more than one night as there are so many other options in and around town.

Our travel agent booked us into Hotel Petka for our honeymoon for 1 night as we were catching our boat the next day. The location is great if you are going to be getting on a boat as all the sailing boats are moored there as well as the overnight ships to Italy and beyond. It is a 15min bus ride into the Old Town of Dubrovnik but the bus stop is right outside and comes at least every 10mins. Although its not like Old Town, there are plenty of shops, restaurants, kiosks, pharmacy etc so you don't feel like you are missing out. IF you were just staying in Dubrovnik and not going sailing then I would stay closer to old town than here.
Hotel Petka is clean, the staff very welcoming, good breakfast and we had a balcony room over looking the water which was lovely. Would definately recommend this place again.
What was lovely is that they gave us a free bottle of Croatian wine as a honeymoon gift. Very nice touch.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a room with a balcony overlooking port, wont regret it.

Looking at the recent reviewers, and having stayed here for one night before catching a ferry to the islands early the next day, I'd agree:

- basic but functional hotel, great if you are getting a ferry (or a bus) as the dock and station are across the street.

- compared to some of the places we stayed in Dubrovnik during our time in Croatia, it was relatively good value compared to the places that are advertised as 'apartments'.

- no safe in the room and rooms still use a key rather than swipe cards.

- shower head had no hook to hang it on the wall so poor attention to detail / maintenance here

- staff were friendly and efficient

- breakfast was relatively poor - not a great selection and a bit of competion in the queue.

All-in-all, an inoffensive hotel and a must if you need to get an early ferry the next day (and queue for a ticket!).

Room Tip: Sea view is probably recommended to have something to look at. The docks are relatively small and t...

No frills hotel favored by tour groups. I choose this one because I was coming from Montenegro by bus and the bus station is attached. If you need to take a boat to the islands, or a cruise, the terminal is in front of the hotel.
Bus to Dubrovnik old city at the door. You can walk there in 45 minutes too. Hotel is very convenient for transport issues, but lack atmosphere, and sometimes is a riotous one, with tour groups arriving or departing, and outside boats unloading thousands of cruisers.
My single room was very narrow and dated, but clean.Mediocre breakfast and contested one internet terminal in the lobby.
My advice is to choose anothe option if you want a Dubrovnik holiday with some character.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the sea in a high floor, you can watch the sea....and the enormous cruises.

I stayed at this hotel for one night on 19/07/12..

This is not a bad hotel at all for the price ..i paid £70.00 for a room and compared to some of the exorbitant prices for hotels in Dubrovnik I thought it too good to be true!

From the airport getting here is easy .. Atlas bus to the Main Bus Station and just walk back for 10 mins and your at the hotel .. ( as you proceed to the bus station you will see the hotel on your LEFT)

This is a basic hotel with basic amenities .. its a short (7-10mins) bus ride away from the Old Town. Room was basic but comfortable. Shower again was basic but worked. AC worked in my room OK but some tripadvisors complain that thiers did not so it may be pot luck. Staff are friendly and helpful enough.

I booked a park view room but lucked out as the hotel was not busy so I got a room with a view of the port .. and this is the bit which makes this excellent value .. its a fantastic view and really brings the price into context as i bet some of those expensive can't boast a view like this. You wont regret paying the extra £10/$10 to get a sea view.

So, in summary .. basic , clean and comfortable hotel with a great view and very nicely priced!

I recommend !!

Room Tip: Get a sea view room higher up for great views .. ask if they have one going spare !

Good price, gold location in the new city right near the port and train station but if you want to be close to the old city where everything seems to be then don't stay here but also expect to pay way more because it's busier, staff very friendly, wifi good, rooms are clean and simple, free breakfast great, restaurant decent for a hotel restaurant but they try to charge you for stuff you don't eat or drink so watch your bill if you eat at the restaurant.

Hotel is clean and close to bus terminal. It's about 3km from old city. I walked it once took the bus the rest of the time. Not hard to get to old city but not ideal. The breakfast was decent. The hotel restaurant wasn't great, none of the food in Croatia is. We were treated fine but the table next to us seemed to have issues with getting charged for things they did not order. Check your bill.
