“Best place stayed in the whole trip!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013

Hotel Authentic Luxury Rooms was absolutely amazing. The room we received was spacious, clean and the best B&B I stayed in compared to others in Croatia and Italy. The owners are EXTREMELY helpful and are very easy going and easy to talk to if you have any questions regarding where to go for the best food, getting around, etc. Every morning our bed was made and we were given fresh towels, which was essential. The shower was actually a normal shower in Europe, not the ones where you have to bend down, lather yourself up first then hold the shower head to rinse yourself off. I would definitely recommend this place as my No. 1 for those who are staying in Split and want to be walking distance from the city centre. There is also a quaint cafe right across the street from Hotel Authentic, so that came of convenience. Thank you again Hotel Authentic for everything you've done for my husband and I, we are truly grateful :)

Thanks a lot to Mario, Maya and the rest of the staff for an excellent week in your charming hotel with a personal atmosphere! Thanks for good advices and service with a personal touch. The 300 year old newly renovated building made the rooms special and more than an ordinary hotel. The beds were good, quiet nights, delicate and clean rooms and a simple breakfast with everything you need. The only thing we missed was drawers for our clothes!

Martin picked us up from the airport and gave us some local information on the area we were stating in while driving us to the hotel. which was great because each cab driver we had either didn't know where it was or could only get us close.

We were greeted and in our room within minutes, they allowed us to place out bags in there and then return from the ATM with the right amount of Kuna to pay for our room. You can also pay in Euro as well.

The staff all gave us tips on where to eat, shop, drink, party and what their favorite beaches were. The breakfast was good and the coffee better.

The room was fixed up to accommodate the three of us with it having the couch turned down so that we had the equivalent of two American full sized beds.

The location is within walking distance of many beaches and attractions.

This has been the best hotel experience I have had in over 5 years of traveling Europe! Excellent communication before my trip, picked us up at the airport and provided a very safe and homely atmosphere. Staff was incredibly flexible to changes and knowledgeable of all the best places to see within the area, I will be coming back here next month just for kicks. I had friend staying in the area during my trip, they were jealous of my place the whole time!

Can I first of all say, please don't be put off by the review below, this is a fantastic little find in the city of Split. We stayed here for 1 week and were more than impressed with the accommodation. It is in a perfect location, situated no more than 5 minutes away from the beach in one direction and 5 minutes from the old town in the other direction. Upon arrival, Mario was very helpful in showing us all the main places to go and giving us tips about ferry times etc. We were then shown to a very spacious room, complete with a small kitchenette and massage shower. We were very impressed as we had gone for the cheapest room and were therefore not expecting a lot. Breakfast was simple but provided all that was needed. Throughout our stay all the staff were extremely helpful and even provided a ready made breakfast on our last day as we were leaving at 7am. The only thing I would point out was that cash payment was expected on arrival, this was on the paperwork but not clear. They were however very good about this and we arranged payment for the next day. There was more than enough to keep us occupied in Split and we would thoroughly recommend the excursion to Krka national park and a day trip to the island of Hvar, both were very beautiful.

We were expecting a hotel as the name on our documentation suggested – “Hotel Authentic” but it was actually an assortment of rooms scattered about a less than salubrious area of Split. Far from value for money!
After exiting the Hvar ferry we followed the Hotel Authentic signs but were forced to stop when the streets narrowed and our passage was halted by parked cars. After driving aimlessly around we rang the hotel and Mario met us at a nearby carpark. This turned out to be the hotel carpark and the 50m to the hotel was more like 150m! Mario to his credit did help us with our bags.
After depositing our friends at the “hotel” – in a room that opened directly onto a street with covered holes in the road and construction materials littered about, we were taken to the annex. After trundling some distance along a grimy alley we turned into a side street parallel and directly below the main road to the port. Our room opened onto the street, had a bar on one side, a construction site on the other and an elephant (judging by the heavy footsteps) above. As you can imagine by this stage we were far from impressed even more so when we discovered the safe could be picked up and taken from the room - please bolt it down!
Despite this less than inspiring beginning we found our room to be nice and spacious. There was a king size bed, a small lounge area and big screen TV. The bed was made with nice linen and firm pillows. However the towels were a different story – thin, scratchy and varying shades of off white, having obviously been washed with coloured items. Far from great guys! Our shower head slipped down which made washing your hair at chest height an interesting experience! We had no hot water the next morning and realised that one switch in the bank of switches we had turned off the previous night was the boiler – maybe a good idea to mention this to your overseas guests unused to this setup.
Our friends had a lovely view of a wall and this made their room quite dark. Their bathroom was extremely small but at least the safe was bolted down! Both rooms have no cover over their entry and as a result we all got soaked unlocking the doors into our rooms.
The internet was fast.
Breakfast was satisfactory – croissants, rolls, boiled eggs, ham, cheese, yoghurt, fruit, juice, tea and coffee, more than enough for a good start to the morning. Filled rolls were left in our friend’s room the night before due to their early start the next day.
Mario and Ivana are very friendly and knowledgeable being able to give us a thorough overview of the immediate area which is well located for sightseeing in the Old Town They were also able to arrange an early morning airport transfer for our friends.
