I was aprehensive about this hotel, after having read previous reviews here of guests having had items stolen from their room by a staff member, but the fears were unfounded and this may have been an isolated incident.
The rooms have safes, so as in any hotel, caution must be taken and nothing valuable should be left outside the safe.
The hotel is 30 minutes by foot from the town's historic centre and the walk is not nice, since it is via a busy city street and nothing pretty to see. The taxi could cost up to 70 kunas (about $15.00).
The rooms are nice with a large bathroom and they are well appointed. The rest of the premises are fairly elegant and the breakfast really vast, and actually was the most sumptuous breakfast of my entire trip through Croatia.
So far as noise is concerned, the room I stayed in faced the street, which is one of the busiest streets in Split, so even with the windows closed, one can hear the humming of the traffic noise. If that bothers you, they you'd better bring ear plugs in order to get a good night's sleep.
This was the only 5 star hotel I stayed in during my trip through Croatia and Montenegro, but I would not consider it a 5 star, specially compared to other hotels we stayed which were 3 and 4 star hotels. I would say that it is really a 4 star hotel. So, it is recommended but with these provisos.
