Very clean, well equiped hotel. It was extremely comfortable place to stay. Staff were friendly but quite. It is situated at the end of the Riva but is centrally located to all the main sites. The building itself was beautiful and in excellant condition. The room had a contintental style breakfast which suited me as I had to be up early in the morning. Strongly recommend you to stay here.

We stayed in this hotel for one night. The location was perfect, at the end of the main seaside boulevard. It was very clena and the staff was just great. The building is also beautiful. The only negative thing I can say was the air conditioning. It was there, but at least in our room it was not in the bedroom but in the livingroom area, so it got hot during the night. Also there was some noise. Oming in as our windows were facing the street where the small bar was. But all in all this was just the right place for our short stay.

The hotel was really clean and rooms were big. Breakfest was just some bisquits and tea in our room, so we rather went to the cafe nearby.

We enjoyed our stay at this clean and charming inn, in a rooftop room all of wood, with a peaked roof, and balcony area outside with table and chairs, though the balcony was not exclusive to us. The inn is around the corner from a laundrette and a small supermarket, as well as several restaurants, one of them owned by the hotel keepers and one called Sperun, comfortable and with good food. The room had everything we needed. Breakfast comes to the room at exactly the hour it's ordered and includes powdered coffee-sugar-milk, breads, butter, fruit, ham, cheese, and juice drinks. We warmly recommend this if you can climb stairs; there are no rooms on low floors. Google maps mislocates this hotel, so to find the hotel on its small street, starting at the inter-city bus station or the port: Walk across the whole seafront promenade. You'll see a l9th century church, Sv. Frane at the far end. Walk gently uphill on the street on the church's right side. Past the laundrette and food market, turn left . The hotel is halfway down the street. This may be a l0 minute walk, quite easy.

Nice Villa very close to old town 5 min walk, but far enough so you don't hear any noises at night. Room was fine and the staff was more than helpful. The owner and staff are very nice people.

Recommended by Rick Steves.

At first, hard to find and parking was almost impossible.

We loved Split. We did a walking tour and ate at a great restaurant, Apetit. We ate there twice it was that good. Went to Hvar for a half day.

I had a wonderful stay at Villa Matejuska in Split, the staff was so kind and helpful. It’s situated in a quiet small street but close to the Riva and the old City in Split. I arrived to Split by bus and since I pack light, it wasn’t a problem for me to walk trough the Riva to get to the apartment. The room was charming, clean and was perfectly lit. AC worked fine. I read some reviews about the hot water, and I was a little bit worried, but they explained me that a proper switch it the bathroom must be on, so I didn’t have any trouble. Breakfast was included and it was fine with me, just to start the day. I didn’t cook since I usually try the local restaurants, but the room has a small stove, refrigerator, coffee maker and proper utensils. There’s a store to buy food nearby.

The location is perfect to visit Split and its vicinity, we used to wander through the city in the morning to see the magnificent sights, have lunch there, then in the afternoon go to the apartment and rest a little bit, before going out for dinner, and there are great restaurants one block away. Try Fife's a local favorite.

I spent 3 nights in Villa Matejuska from May 24 and I really want to thank the owner and the staff for making my stay in Split so nice.

TIP: While in Split save a day to visit Trogir, it’s a medieval charming city about 40 minutes by bus.

For me and my husband it was the most beautiful experience we have ever had on a trip... Villa Matejuska is nothing luxury or de luxe, but it is so nice, lovely and charming place. Villa is renovated old stone house, with original walls and old old wood... It tells own story... I loved the location cause on one hand you are 30 steps away from promenade and Split nucleus, and on the other hand the street is so quite. The owner and his beatiful wife are really great and pleasent, and the staff is friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed it and next year we are coming back. Price is reasonable for souc a historical place and location. Regards to all in Villa Matejuska, thank you, Albert & Mary

Villa Matejuska was difficult to find but when we finally arrived, the staff couldn't have been nicer. They had warned us to arrive by 9PM so we had no problem. The location is ideal for visiting Split and there was an excellent restaurant only a block away. The accommodations were nice, not luxurious, but certainly standard for a B&B. Breakfast was pretty basic as well. All in all, however, we found it a pleasant stay.
