We enjoyed our stay and although the room and bathroom were spotlessly clean, our room smelt of stale tabacco and as non smokers ourselves was not pleasant. The reception is not manned on a Sunday(our first morning) and if you need help have to wail until Joanna arrives on Mondays at 9am which was fine for us . Joanna was helpful and gave us a bottle of wine on our departure which was a nice gesture. We found the location so perfect and really enjoyed exploring Split from here.

Room Tip: Remember you may have heavy bags to carry upstairs unless you book a lower floor

Our arrival was delayed by a train accident and we were desperate to just relax - however the phone number that we were given to text our arrival time was either not working or was left unattended so that when we arrived there was no-one around - we rang the number and could hear it ringing in the closed office. Had it not been for a delightful lady neighbour who went off around the streets seeking the proprietors we would have had to sleep under the stars!
Heated words were exchanged - feeble excuses offered but all's well that ends well ? - we enjoyed a lovely meal in the nearby Trattoria Tinel ( free wine provided by Villa Varos) so we were ready for a good nights sleep. The room was small but clean and tidy - the bathroom perfect - but the floor,oh the floor - the wood laminate creaked and clicked noisily but worse - the floor above did too so we were woken when guests arrived in the early hours and again when they left at 04:30. To be fair the location is really great and we enjoyed the old building / old town ambience and the proprietor is a nice guy. Price wise it was the most expensive 5 night stay of our 3 week vacation.

Room Tip: top floor has no noise from above.

The owners were very obliging and were able to arrange a late arrival for us and a ground floor room for one of our party. Most of the rooms are 1 or 2 flights of stairs up. The basic double rooms are not huge but are immaculate and comfortable with good showers and aircon. They were, in fact, so good that we switched our booking for our last night stay from a more expensive hotel back to Villa Varos. The location is excellent with lots of good eating options locally and only 5 mins walk from the Riva and Diocletians palace area. On our last night we stayed in the set of rooms down on the front that they also manage and we had a terrace with a view of the Riva for a very reasonable 60 euro price. These rooms also have a tiny kitchenette and coffee machine. We would stay again without hesitation.

Room Tip: If you dont mind stairs then the room at the top of the building down near the sea front has an amaz...

The location here was just what we wanted, easily walkable from everywhere in Split, including the train station and ferries. We made the mistake of taking a taxi upon arrival by train but found it would have been easy to have walked. The owner is friendly and helpful, and our room was perfect for the reasonable price -- clean and bright.

This very small hotel, owned by a lovely Criatian-American woman and her sons, is located in the Varos section of the town where the fishermen bring in their boats updating fish. Very neighborhoody in a tourist town. Joanne was very helpful when we needed to come to Split a day earlier than our reservation and found us a room nearby. Definitely not luxury, but very good for the price
