“Outstanding service and a peaceful location right in the old town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

We stayed in the annexe, villa Dobric, which was charming, small, very comfortable, quiet, and in a perfect location. But we had the ten star service of the main hotel, which included taking our car to their car park overnight, collecting it in the morning, loading our luggage into it and then taking the car to the queue for the ferry to Vis......and then an hour later, when we had done our market shopping, taking us and our shopping to the car! Also a brilliant breakfast. Such quality of service and tasteful and comfortable rooms in ancient buildings is a real treat. We will definitely go back next time we're in Split.

Whilst the villas for this hotel is well located and clean, I just couldn’t see the value or the hype for a small boutique hotel I would have expected a little more, the rooms are not that well-appointed, and it was disappointing to see the amount of marks along the walls, which indicated to me that lack of detail, the bathrooms seem to have been going through a redesign and it would have been nice to see a place to at least hand up the hand towel next to the basin, rather than over the toilet, especially as there was adequate room. We elected to have our breakfast in the hotel restaurant rather than the villas as there was certainly far more selection, the service and range

We choose this hotel in spite of some negative reviews here, and I'm glad we did! It's an amazing location. You can walk out of the hotel and you are right where the action is.
The minute we checked in we felt us warmly welcome. What we were really happy for was that we got our room immediately after we arrived at the hotel although it was only 9:30 am. The staff at the reception couldn't have done more for us- everything from the airport transfer to helping us with catamaran schedules and buying our tickets for us. Just perfect. We had a superior room with a sea view and were really happy with it.
All in all, we really enjoyed our stay and would stay here again!

We decided to have a meal here when we were holidaying in split!
We really enjoyed! Service was really good & by a very knowledgable maitre de.
We ate outside with the hotel lit up & little trendy lights lighting up our table. It is really difficult to know good restaurants when you arrive at a place you haven't been but we would definitely recommend this!

This tiny outlet was superbly situated off the main square but one block from all the action. Shockingly quiet, nice staff and clean, cool room. Breakfast was great. A real retreat and perfect for our first days to sleep away jet lag or explore the old city.

Room Tip: Our room/suite was in the annex, not the main hotel in Diocletian's Palace.

If you stay there : do not forget your ear plugs! The location inside the vestibul of Diocletian Palace is just GREAT : you stay in the middle of history and can visit the old city as much as you want etc.... But the counterpart is: very very tiny rooms... and too much noise up to 2 a.m. at least ( bring or buy ear plugs if you want to sleep...). Like often in Croatia : great service; the doormen are very helpfull : if you call the hotel from your car they will help you to park it and come to you to take care of your luggage; very very attentive guys!

Dear Mr. Jaugier,

I want to thank you for compliments and sharing your opinion about hotel Vestibul Palace.
The room You have stayed at is our smallest and least expensive room (standard double), there are only 2 of the rooms this category in the hotel, all the other rooms are larger and more comfortable, but each room is unique due to the fact building dates back from 3rd century.
Nevertheless, above mentioned room has a beautiful view on the square in front of the hotel, and Ethnographic Museum, and hotel's location as You have written is great, because of the fact it is located in the heart of Diocletian's Palace, the most central hotel in Split, in the Imperial chambers.
Therefore I do understand Your inconvenience about noise which is usually none, and most of the people find their stay very pleasant here while having a privilege to enjoy the private atmosphere without any noise.
We are very proud of our staff members and I am glad they have been so helpful to You, especially parking Your car at hotel's garage and do hope You will have a chance to come back to Split and stay again at hotel Vestibul Palace.

With kind regards,
Boris Dusa

I enjoyed this hotel stay. Not your typical hotel, I stayed in another building (not with main hotel lobby, as they occupy two separate properties) and had a two story unit (stairs a little steep in unit for someone with knee/hip issues), but for those with no walking issues it's fine and the room was modern and roomy. The staff was very welcoming and pointed me in the right direction for things to do in Split. Breakfast was complimentary and they had a great assortment for the buffet, they even had soy milk (all bases covered). Since this hotel is in the Palace area it's easy to navigate. I recommend seeing the fruit and veggie market as well as the fish market, both nearby as well as a free tour of the palace.

Dear Mr. Plattman,

Thank You for these kind words and such a nice review.
Yes, hotel Vestibul Palace consists of two buildings, hotel Vestibul Palace main building (7 rooms) and Villa Dobric, annex building (4 rooms), the fact which makes it such an unique property. It is pleasure to see You had a pleasant stay at Villa Dobric, at two story room - Superior Double room, and such a good breakfast, since we serve it at both of the buildings.
Also I wish to thank You for kind words about staff members.

Kind regards,
