“A Genuine 5 Star Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We stayed here as part of an Insight bus tour of Croatia in June 2014.

The hotel is well appointed with a great swimming pool outside and one inside as well.

We had a loft style room on the fifth floor. It was a pleasure to have an air con system that could actually be adjusted to the temperature you wanted and it worked so well.

Our bathroom was modern with a combined shower-bath-spa. A great and comfortable king size bed.

We found the staff helpful and friendly.

It has a good downstairs lounge area located on the ground floor.

The hotel was full when we stayed and there were a lot of families staying as well as couples.

Buffet breakfast had all the choices you would expect of a 5 star hotel and the food was nice and fresh.

The only negative was that the bath was quite high sided which could make it a bit tricky for older people climb into.

Overall a 9/10 experience and a pleasure to stay here..

This hotel reminded me of a venerable 19th century hotel that has charm, but is a little short on the routine maintenance. I was in Split as part of a choral group tour of Croatia. The hotel was chosen mostly because its convenient location, an easy 15 minute walk to the center of activity in the old city, but where our bus could be parked on the street. We were fortunate to be assigned one of the larger rooms available in the front section of the hotel - it appeared to have originally been a suite, so it had more than enough furniture, including a coffee table that had to be moved out of the way every evening so we would fall over it on a nighttime bathroom run. There was even an exer-cycle in our room! The bathroom had a corner tub with jacuzzi and hand-held shower, but was pretty tight. The cover on one of the jets fell off regularly and the knob that you lift to get the water to the shower head was missing as well as assorted other maintenance issues, but the place was clean and, even though our room looked out on a busy street, we had no trouble sleeping.
The breakfast room was quite pleasant; however, the breakfast was disappointing. Most of the foods were pretty cold and there was not a great variety but we didn't go hungry.
A near-disaster was narrowly averted when the only lift in the front half of the hotel broke down the night before our group of 50 was to check out. Fortunately, with prodding from our tour guide, they were able to get the repairman in and the lift fixed just in time.

This hotel is very close to the city center and the ancient palace. We payed for a double room but got a suit. The room had plenty of space, nice furniture, couches and a great king size bed, mini bar and safety deposit. The bathroom was nice and had a jacuzzi bathtub. The only thing we did not like was the breakfast. There was no fresh bread and no breakfast buns. The eggs were not fresh (one or two days old??) and the coffee was disgusting. For a hotel with four stars this breakfast was really a disaster.

Really enjoyed our four-night stay at this hotel. Striking design throughout and very helpful staff. Our room was lovely, very spacious with great king size bed . The bathroom was comfortable, the room was clean, and we felt very welcome. Location is really the best- walking distance from the city centre. Also, we had a car parked in secure garage. Great value for the price! I would recommend to anyone. :-)

Room Tip: Our room was at first floor with nice balcony...

The Hotel President is a lovely place. We stayed there recently, and were very impressed. The staff members were friendly and efficient. The room was spacious and was beautifully furnished, with comfortable beds, a large writing desk and chair, a coffee table and chair, and a two-seater. A lovely parquetry floor was partially-covered with matching, patterned rugs. High-quality drapes, curtains and bedspreads, and tasteful artwork were also features of the room. The bathroom was large, modern, ‘fresh’ and clean. It included full tiling, twin basins and a very large bath / shower with spa jets. The dining areas were pleasant and the breakfast included a reasonable range of items. The hotel is well located and is within walking distance of key attractions.

This is a dated hotel in a good location. The rooms are large, the bathrooms fairly nice except for the odd shower in bathtub. At one end of the tub is a wrap around glass door. Don't drop your soap because this is an odd, tight space. Ladies, bring your own soap because what the hotel supplies are a couple of small discs that don't lather well. The floors are beautiful hardwood. The food in the restaurant is not very good, just adequate. It is an easy walk to the harbor with many shops along the way.

Central location close to the old city in Split, easy walk, always felt safe. Parking on the premises a plus. Room upgraded to a suite, which was unexpected. A little dated and waterbed, well... Wifi access good, with dedicated password.
Staff friendly, so a good place to stay. No meals in the hotel ad we opted to explore the city as much as possible
