“Needs a bit of work”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

The Hotel Park is located just outside of the Old Town, a plus for those who want a quieter beach. We had some confusion with the booking and transfers, and the staff was quite unpleasant. Even our local guide asked that they be better representatives of the service industry in Croatia. We spent two nights, and we would not return, especially since there is the Vestibul Palace and Hip, but perhaps we caught them on the wrong two days.

This is a grand gracious lady that cleary is one if not the grandest hotel in Split.
Service is first class.
Contrast to some of the down side of Split. Some folks even in the hospitality industry, forget their manners to their visitors here in this small country.
I had a very pleasant stay found the value of this fine property,
Which is removed from a lot of the noise and bustle of the beach and port area.
The buffet breakfast (includes champagne) is a beautiful array of Croatian cheeses, salamis, breads, juices, coffee selection,
eggs ham on the bone, finished with a light cream berry cake for desert. All in a delightful peaceful setting.
They also accept all major creit cards this is the Split I will return to.

Even though I stayed at Hotel Park in Split well out of the high season, I would like to recommend this hotel for the service level, and especially the restaurant.
The accomodation was as you would expect from a 4* hotel, although the room was not the biggest I stayed in.
The restaurent however was excellent. Quality level well above average, and eventhough we were only a few guests at the hotel, they were able to turn out the most variable menu I have seen for a long time. Everything fresh and well prepared. Excellen wine list with a good selection of Croatian wines that are not to be missed. All in all good bang for the buck.

My husband and I arived in spli without a resevaton! The hotel we were thinking of staying in was full and they phone around for us and found us a room in the Park.
This was a real break as we heard from another traveller that the hotel we intended staying in was not very good.
After reading the reviews above I wonder if we were staying in the same hotel!
We had a lovely room with a beautiful veiw of the bay. The staff were pleasant, the breakfast was excellent. The hotel is in a good location away from the old town and all the noise. We have decided after this experience that from now on we will always stay just outside the old towns even it it means a bit of a walk. someone mentioned the walk as being unpleasant. well the first part is along the cliff overlooking the beach. there is a short section along the railway track but the you are back at the harour and a walk along it to the old twon.
We decided to eat at the restaurant the nights we stayed there and the food was excellent with fantastic service. the waiter was so attentive we never once had to top up our wine glasses.
I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel to friends even after reading the other reviews.

Room Tip: A room inthe front is a must as the veiw is fantastic.

A great hotel with very helpful staff, offering excellent service and a brilliant breakfast! Close enough to the ferry port and town centre - the beach is also very close. As its outside the old town you get much better value for money.

When booking, we upgraded to a "superior room" with a sea view. The large spacious room with a king size bed was well worth the small amount extra it cost. The room had 3 sets of small doors that lead out onto a small balcony (very narrow) with a nice view of the sea. The room even had two bathrooms - one had just a sink and toilet, but the other was large (it had two sinks). While somewhat dated, the furnishings were comfortable and the room was very clean. The buffet breakfast (included) was a little sparse, but they were willing to cook eggs to order, so there was no shortage of food.
Being situated a 15 minute walk from the old town, means that the hotel is removed from the hustle and bustle. It is right across the road from a great beach and a short walk from a great restaurant (Konoba Nevera).

Room Tip: Pay extra for the "superior" room

Stayed here because we were meeting our traveling group the next morning. It's quite a walk down into the old city, and not particularly attractive (nasty train tracks and trash). The air conditioning is barely noticeable. The restaurant is very pretty - sit outside and enjoy the night, when the temperature finally drops. Didn't see anything to do close by. If you're looking for a place close to the activity of Split, look elsewhere.

And, unbelievably, there is no safe in the room.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
After a long and detailed preparation time has come to officially inform you about the reconstruction and renewal of our "white pearl." Hotel "Park" is the oldest and most popular hotel for Split residents and their guests. Since its opening back in 1921 the hotel was and remains the most prestigious venue for all social and political events in Split. Known for its beautiful terrace is also the only hotel in Split near the famous beach Bacvice and the old town. Hotel "Park" as a longtime leader must follow the new trends in the hotel industry and the demand for luxury capacities that determine the necessity of renovation and upgrading of the hotel. We believe that the hotel "Park" as one of the institutions of the city of Split owes its guests this renovation and upgrade to 5 * stars and new content. The future plans for the hotel "Park" project an increase of capacity to 73 rooms, buildup of the west facade, construction of an additional floor and building new space for additional content, such as underground garages, swimming pools, conference halls with capacity of 250 people, an adequate spa and "glass garden" on the existing terrace. We are also very happy that the hotel entrance will be back to the south side. With all these changes the hotel will get a new look but we will ensure to remain true to our tradition and atmosphere - classic sophisticated space at hotel "Park" with a modern flair. The opening of the new hotel "Park" 5 * is planned in June 2015. ... more   less
