We chose to stay the Radisson Blu because we had a very postive experience at a Radisson property in Panama last year. It was an intersting hotel for us - neither bad nor great. The hotel is very new and ultra modern. The lobby is open with a very "airy" feel to it. The reception staff was excellent. Our room was kind of odd to us - the bed was in the middle of the room. I am sure that was to emphasize the incredible view. However, it made it a little ackward to move around and there was no place to sit except on the bed. This was ok as the we spent most of our room time on the large balcony. The balcony was great, but the only negative was you can hear, very clearly, your neighbours - it is like you are sitting "with" them on the balcony. But the view was amazing. There is a construction site right in front, but the view is beyond that. If that construction site ever starts up again (it appeared to be haulted in the middle of construction), it will be very loud and I believe the hotel will have to lower their prices to compensate. The outdoor bar etc. is very nice and the spa was really what made our stay good. It really is a nice facility with steam, sauna, hot tubs etc.- as the weather was not great for us, this was a real treat. Honestly, this is probably what I would recommend the most about this hotel. I am sure that younger people would find the modern aspect of the hotel great, but my middle aged husband and I felt it was a little stark and cold. I am sure it is, or will be, a pretty hip place, but we were not traveling for that. We like culture etc. It would be great for a young group of people wanting a summer trip to hang out around a pool.
Aside from the hotel's great views, it is a beautiful 40 minute walk on the sea wall to Split old town - we knew it was quite a ways to the town centre when we booked it, but it was great. Stop by the marina for dinner too - this was one of our best meals in Croatia - and we love good food! We were the only tourists there among locals.
All in all - good hotel, not for us though. I also felt it was overpriced for the quality of rooms.
