“Top location for small price!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013 via mobile

We arrived by car and found by chance free parking space 50m from the room. The host Frane came with us to check wheather we were legally parked and helped with our luggage. He gave us a map and additionel information about old town, supermarket, bakery, good restaurants, wifi password,... His mother offered us a refreshing drink! The service is really welcoming, they really deserved to win their "best service" award in 2012. The location is really central, everything within walking distance. The rooms are basic and little out-dated, but very clean and well-equipped (airco, tv,..).

Wonderful option in Split. My friend and I really enjoyed our 3 night stay at the apartments. Frane, the owner, is incredibly helpful and welcoming. After showing us our room, he showed us the city map explaining all areas of interest and answering any questions we had. Frane allowed us to hangout in the courtyard after we checked out while we waited a few hours for the flight (the wifi works out there).
The apartment is in an excellent location. Everything you could want is within walking distance.

The only reason I am giving it a 4/5 is that the room was a little small and the hot water never really worked despite turning on the water heater an hour before we showered as instructed. Also, the towels are kind of tiny. Small detail but noticeable after a chilly shower :)

All in all, these are pretty minor details when staying in a hostel. Cleanliness, safety, and location are always my 3 main concerns when booking a hostel and on those accounts the Peruzovic apartments get my highest ranking.

What a good find. After caching the bus at the airport that goes straight to the Split bus station on the harbor front 3 kuna each, and a short walk with Frane’s directions we soon found the apartment where we were staying for four days. The apartments although ,small are good and adequately appointed, housed in an old converted building that only adds to the experience of staying in this historic town. The great asset of the outside space, garden to have breakfast and sit in the quiet of the evening is not to be over looked. If a Jacuzzi tub could be added to the garden it would have been heaven, but may be that would be a little over the top though.
Frane sat with us in the garden on our arrival and gave us a town map that he had added notes and points of interest and recommended restaurants, what a great help. Just outside the gates of the garden there is a baker and a small supermarket, for those breakfast things. A five minuet walk and we were into the promenard of the harbor and the old town. Of course the old town, markets and back streets are not be missed and evening dinning alfresco along the harbor front. Fiffiys restaurant vary good and inexpensive food, great atmosphere. Next catch, local bus to Podstrana, Pansion Amigos.

Peruzovic Rooms are very well located for access to Split old town and the Harbour. The room was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was spacious with great water pressure. We only needed the room for sleeping, washing and to use as a base for exploring Split. It was perfect for our needs. The owners were quick and efficient at showing us around, they had a map ready with everything on it we would need. If staying in Split again I would definitely stay here.

Hostel Peruzovic is conveniently situated on the outskirts of the old town just past the Croatian National theatre, only a few minutes walk from the port and bus & train stations.

We were welcomed by incredibly friendly & helpful staff and were shown to our room. The room itself was very clean and well presented, but was also undeniably cramped and lacking in natural light. It was absolutely fine for our needs as we arrived in the evening on the first night and were then spending the one day in Split before moving on, but if you were looking to base yourself in Split it might get a bit claustrophobic after a while.

Having said that, I would stay here again in the same circumstances, or for a weekend if travelling with hand luggage only. The area was quiet at night being on the periphery of things so I had a good night's sleep and, as mentioned, the staff were wonderful.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2010

My husband and I spent the first two nights of our Dalmatian Riviera trip at the Peruzovic in Split. Upon booking we discoverd that this is a rather expensive city to stay in, and plumped for one of the cheapest options available, which was here.

Upon arrival to a rather cool and rainy Split airport we caught the bus (we had to wait over an hour for the driver to appear though!) into Split centre. This is not the main bus station in Split, this you will find a further 10 minute walk away towards the ferry terminal and you may catch buses to other destination from there. The hostel is located an easy 10-15 minute walk first along the promenade (RIva) then up the main shopping street at the end of the Riva until you reach a large yellow building (the theatre) on the left. To the left hand side of this is a street called Plinarska and the hostel is a located a short way up this street behind a rather unimposing green steel gate. Upon arrival (which was now early evening) we were shown directly to our room by a freindly gentleman who spoke very good English, gave us some maps and additional info about Split and the room.

For what we paid per night (£40) we had hoped to have something less dingy and tiny to be honest. We have stayed in hostels all over the world with our only specification being that the property is clean and we have a private bathroom. This property had both so it was okay, however the room was absolutely tiny-I banged my leg quite badly within an hour of arriving whilst trying to manouvere around the bed, which took up the whole room, which resulted in pain and bruising. The room was so dark with the tiny bar rear facing window providing the only natural daylight we almost constantly had to have the main light on to stop the depression creeping upon us. However the good point was that it had a fridge in the room which is always handy and a small shop and bakery doors away.

Split itself is a very beautiful but enormous city (we flew over it on the flight back from Dubrovnik) however the city centre itself is rather compact, with Dicoletians Palace taking up the majority of the sightseeing. The forest park atop the hill (I believe it is called Maro) is also worth a visit as you obtain another vantage point from which to see the entire city spread out before you. be prepared to climb many steps up to the park though! Take plenty of water, as there are no shops in the park and only a small cafe bar at the entrance to buy drinks from.

Overall, a clean, functional base from which to explore Split but disappointed in the poor value for money.
