We stayed at Diocletian's Rooms on two occasions within a week as we also took a trip from split over to the island of Hvar.
The first stay we spent 2 nights in Porta Ferrea, we were so pleased with the room when we arrived as they are very clean and though it's an old building, has been spruced up nicely. The view from the window is straight over the Kathedral of the Diocletian's Palace and it was amazing to stay right in the middle of it all.
The second stay we spent one night in Porta Aurea, which again impressed us as though it is a four storey building with only stairs the view from the balcony was absolutely worth the the climb - we could see not only the Kathedral but also past this to the water.
The rooms and view are reflected well in the pictures provided and even though sometimes you look at the pictures on the weband then arrive at your accomodation only to find it smaller and aged by a number of years than presented in pictures on the web, I thought that the pictures were a true representation of how the rooms lloked and we were really pleased. The beds are comfortable and rooms clean.
The only things that I would say were lacking were perhaps a tV adn hairdryer, but what's the point of being in such lovely surrounding if you spend your time watching TV.
The location is amazing, right in the middle of the old town, Less than a minute walk to the Riva (waterfront) immersed amongst too many bars, cafes and restaurants to count. Even on the last day we were still finding new alley ways to explore.
Mirela and Peter were extremely helpful, with Peter waiting around in the cold for us to arrive late at night to check in, Mirela organising a night in other accomodation when we mixed up dates and also allowing us both early check in and late checkout in conjunction with our arrival and departure times.
As the rooms are so close to the Kathedral one thing to note is that the Kathedral bells do chime every morning at 7 and 8 am (and other times during the day), this didn't bother us - free alarm clock. Also there is a bit of a buzz around as you are at the main tourist attraction and so can hear some noise coming from the general area, but it wasn't loud and because it was constant was barely noticable.
I definately stay here on return to Split.
