“Large apt in great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2011

The apartment I stayed in was right above their office. It's about a good fifteen minute walk from the bus station/port, but from the apartment the Old Town is two minutes away and with it a large number of restaurants.

The apartment itself was very large and clean, no complaints at all. The staff was helpful, would definitely recommend staying here for your trip.

Stayed three nights in the two bedroom apartments on Zoranica street. This place was HUGE (around 1500 sq/ft) and newly renovated : two large bedrooms, one full bath (with jacuzzi tub, stand alone shower and clothes washer) and one half bath. Large living space and private balcony. Fully equipped kitchen (even sandwich maker). Free wi-fi. Location-wise, this apartment is near shops and restaurants and a measly 5-10 minute walk away from the Diocletian palace. Also, for those interested in cooking their own meal, there is a small food market next door. Be aware that it is on the fourth floor without lift, quite the healthy workout. The management was extremely helpful, kind enough to help us find a parking space and park the car. Being a little picky, we noticed a few spots that would benefit from a thorough cleaning (ex: jets in the tub had little soap scum left over). Nitpicking aside, we would highly recommend this apartment.

We booked for a four night stay after reading rave reviews on Trip advisor of Gajeta Apartments. When we arrived at the office we were taken on a very long walk through some very dodgy areas and shown a horrible apartment. This was nothing like the descriptions we had read about. I WONDER WHO WRITES HIS TRIP ADVISOR REPORTS ?.We were given no help to find alternative accommodation, the manager would not even come to see us and no apology was offered! ( We suspect they had overbooked ) He was the most unhelpful person we met during out 18 days in Croatia and Slovenia.

We rented the two bedroom apartment on Zoranica Street for a total of 4 days. As previously stated by others in other posts, the apatment building looks old from the outside (probably built just after WW II) and it is a bit of a walk upstairs (106 to be exact), but once you see the apartment you will forget about all of that. The property was completely renovated and has new furnishings, including comfortable beds, air conditioning, GE Profile kitchen appliances, a Bosch washing machine (which came in particularly handy), and an entertainment system to include free WI Fi. The apartment was immaculately clean.

The location was perfect for exploring Split. Restaurants and super markets were just outside the door and Diocletian's Palace was a 5 minutes walk away. This particular apartment is accessible by car, but most of the central area is pedestrian/bicycle traffic only. We took the Croatia Airlines bus from the Airport to near the ferry terminal for 30 kuna and then walked the easy 10-15 walk (with rollaboard luggage) to the Apartments Gajeta Office to pick up the key. The staff at the Office is very nice and extremely helpful. I don't know what the other apartments look like, but if Zoranica Street is any indication, you will be very pleased. This is the first time that we have stayed in an apartment instead of a hotel. It is now an option for us to look at when researching travel.

We had a one night stay in the 'Marina' apartment before an early flight the next day. The whole place was fresh and clean, and had efficient air-conditioning which was very welcome in the heatwave we experienced whilst in Croatia. The apartment was very well equipped if you were staying longer, and the people running the business speak excellent English so everything runs smoothly and the directions are clear.

The apartment was also well situated for shops, bars, restaurants and the remains of Diocletian's Palace. It's a 10-15 minute walk from the ferry terminal so great if you want to do some island hopping. We would stay there again and have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

We spent two nights in the most amazing apartment one could imagine ... huge, clean, 4th floor with a balcony, perfect location on the corner of the old town .... i just could not believe it when we first walked in. My jaw dropped with joy.

Split is a beautiful town, and after the "Movie Set" feel of Dubrovnik old town it was great to feel that we were back in the real workld with normal Croatian people going about their daily lives.

The staff at the head office (just 10 minutes walk from the bus station in the old town) were attentive and professional. They are a good outfit. They showed us where the supermarket and everthing was on the short walk up to the apartment (did i mention just how jaw droppingly amazing the apartment was ..... will say it one last time ... WOW)

This was more than just great value for money, this was a highlight and the perfect way to end our 3 week trip to italy and Croatia :-)

I have only one gripe ....... the staff organised a Taxi for us to arrive at 6am to take us to the airport and Taxi 77 (the green BMW) never showed up !!!! After waiting 20 minutes and my 8am flight pennding,we went the main tazi rank and sure enough there it was, without driver. We eventually did get another taxi who absolutely lead-footed it to the airport and got me to my flight on time (as well as informing us that Taxi 77 probably slept in !!!)

If I am lucky enough to travel the Baulkans again and spend time in split i will be calling on Gajeta and begging for the same apartment agian.

M.

We stayed one night in a Gajeta apartment and highly recommend it. Spotlessly clean, fully equipped, safe and close to everything - all at a very reasonable price. Would definitely stay there again.
