“If only the receptionist was a bit happier !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

This is probably the best location in the lovely town of Split. Just 100 m from the sea-front, in the old town, also about 100 m from Diocletian's Palace. The buffet breakfast is very good and attended by a very efficient lady. The room was very good although because the old town is tightly packed there was no view; I don't think there could be at any hotel in Split centre. The only criticism I could make is that one of the female receptionists was surly, with a very deep voice for a woman, which makes her sound even worse. None of the receptionists made any effort to look up from the computer screen (where they were probably playing Patience!) when we entered the hotel. Just to look up and say 'hello' would make a difference. Otherwise I would rater this hotel and would definitely stay there again/recommend it to friends. Cheer up girls!

Room Tip: Go for a luxury room as the others are at the back.

The rooms were nice with a great rain shower when the water was hot. One with tepid water and one with hot water. The room was adequate, bed comfortable and clean. Breakfast was just ok. Nothing special. The front desk staff were disinterested in helping, never conveying messages and on the edge of being rude. The location can't be beat. Walk out of the hotel to cafés, waterfront and the palace.

The hotel was fine in terms of room size, comfort of beds, closet/drawer space, bathroom, amenities, and location. Breakfast was adequate in each of their small sitting areas. There're is a covered terrace lounge for relaxing after a busy day in charming Split. There are also drink menus up there... If only there were servers who showed up to take an order or serve drinks. The reception staff is very unfriendly and cold. They also were poor in conveying messages to and from tour guides.

This boutique hotel is well located for easy touring around Split. It is very quiet, good room size with a clean well appointed bathroom. The breakfast included was complete with many choices. Highly recommended if location is a priority

This hotel boasts a five star rating, but I did not experience anything close to that level of service or atmosphere. Marmont's décor is described as minimalist. In my travels, I have learned that this is code for lacking amenities, specifically in this case: no dresser, no drawers, and one of my biggest pet peeves in newly designed hotels, no towel racks in the bathroom.

The rooms are small (270 square feet) and the doors require a good tug to close. Housekeeping must have forgotten about the tugging, because our door was ajar after they dropped off our laundry.

The view is mediocre – tiled rooftops are okay to look at, but they obscure the nicer view of the walled Old Town or the Adriatic (depending on your vantage point). Marmont does have a good location, at the edge of the Old Town and within a five minute walk of the harbor.

Breakfast is adequate: cold cuts, assorted breads an pastries, poured yogurt, fruits, hard boiled eggs and cereals. All food is pre-packaged grocery store quality (though European grocery store quality is higher than its US counterpart). The two hot items, scrambled eggs and hot dogs, are not worth eating.

There is no gym, The staff is okay, not overly attentive but not dismissive either. Housekeeping did a slight lower than average job cleaning the bathroom. But, in fairness, the counter top choice of green glass with a raised sink that splashes water everywhere, makes it a hard room to clean well.

My overall impression of Marmont isn't that it necessarily did anything wrong. It just didn't do anything overly right.

Room Tip: See if you can get an un-obscured view

Excellent location for visiting the first class restaurants in the neighbourhood (especially to the north). Everything worked in the hotel. Friendy and helpful staff. WiFi worked better in the lounge than in the room. The breakfast was lovely, rich, and healthy. The premises are modern and in good repair. Everything seems to work in Split and you can drink the tap water. Only tea bags in the room so we bought freeze dried coffee in the nearby Coop (Konsum). However, we had afternoon coffe in a nice Budapest type of café in the adjecent square. We had a wonerful week in Split in mid-May. We can really recommend Marmont Hotel.

After 6 days of cycling it was a wonderful surprise to find this small boutique hotel on the edge of the Old Town of Split. We were able to store our bikes in an outside area with the help of the very friendly staff. The rooms are large, well appointed and extremely comfortable. The hotel is tucked away from the bustle of the shopping area and has a very relaxed feel about it. The staff could not do enough for you and were very attentive to all our needs.

Room Tip: There are not many rooms in this hotel but all are fantastic. It doesn't have a pool which in Au...
