“Beautiful, handcrafted hotel with fabulous staff.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2014 via mobile

Every detail of this hotel has been carefully crafted. The handcrafted wooden doors and furniture are simply exquisite. The staff goes above and beyond to serve. The location is perfect for walking to the markets of Antigua. My family stays there every summer.

I spent 7 days at the Hotel Candelaria this past week which was not nearly enough time. This is by far the most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed in. From the beautiful center atrium and breath taking views from the roof top terrace to the hand crafted furniture, everything is designed for a relaxing Antigua holiday. The staff was very nice and helpful too. I highly recommend!

I have stayed at the Candelaria for one week for the past 7 years. It is a gorgeous hotel with a beautiful court yard, comfortable rooms and a fantastic rooftop view of three volcanoes. The hospitality found here is top notch, very friendly and accommodating.

Room Tip: Try to choose a room that is off street as the motorcycles and took-tooks (sp?) can be noisy early m...

I've stayed at this hotel nearly 10 times on mission trips, for periods of one and two weeks at a time. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable after a hard day's work. The rooftop is a wonderful place for relaxing with friends, not to mention the great photo opportunities of Volcan de Agua. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. My family and I consider them our own close friends. I would not want to stay anywhere else and I always look forward to being back "home" at Hotel Candelaria.

This was the second time we stayed here after a mission trip and it did not disappoint! Beautiful rooms great lobby, dining room and "living room". We stayed in room 105 both times. This room has a queen bed and a beautiful spacious bathroom. Love this place!! The courtyard is a relaxing beautiful space to reflect and pray.

Room Tip: We stayed both times on the first floor and it was very quiet.

I have had the pleasure of staying at this property, and its a nice stay if you want to get away from noise. Our room was spacious and bathroom was large. The towels were fresh and crisp. The attendant was prompt to provide us with more towels when requested. The breakfast was fresh and excellent for the price. The owner Mr. Diaz was very helpful in providing us with accurate information of the city and requesting reliable transportation during our stay. Mr. Diaz made us feel at home and made sure our every need fulfilled promptly. I will certainly make Candelaria a regular stay on my return to Antigua. Thank you Mr. Diaz for an enjoyable guest experience and I hope to see you soon. Martin & Roxy.

Room Tip: Ask for the larger suite if available.

with beautiful, well appointed clean rooms with large (king) beds. the staff goes out of its way to accommodate and prepares a cooked breakfast in a kitchen area almost as small as mine at home!! the hotel is about 15 minutes walking distance from antigua's central square, but very walkable especially during the day and you'll be rewarded with finding wonderful colonial houses, church ruins, cafes and markets along the way!! i just enjoy sitting around the courtyard in early evening reading a book and relaxing...
