Description: Izakaya is a Japanese Sake Establishment which also serves food to accompany the drinks. Enticing Oriental Appetizers with a tropical twist, creating a fusion between guatemalan and asian flavors. Fine cuisine prepared in an open kitchen, by reknown chefs with an international trajectory, which includes Nobu, Zuma & Gordon Ramsay in London. Cozy atmosphere and great music.

“Disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

We liked the location and the service was
good.

But, were were not impressed with any of the
dishes because we have had better Asain fare
in many many restaurants for a better price.

We shared 3 dishes and none would stand out
as something to return for.

“Overpriced and overrated!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

I wanted to give Izakaya 2.5 starts but it doesn´t exist so
I am giving them the benefit of the doubt.

We tried four dishes (tapa sized). The best thing about
about the food was the presentation. Other than that we
were mostly disappointed. The ceviche is poor. You can
honestly get better on the Street in Antigua.

Value is non existent.

Service is good!

“Worth a visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013

We were nt overly inspired by our visit to Izakaya.

Very small menu which was unexpected.

Food served mostly as tapas....also unexpected.

Yakitori was as average as we have evr had.

Other dishes somewhat better but overall have had
better much better experiences especially in the city.

Value...well it too was just OK

“Not a typical Asian experience.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

Lets start with the menu. Very, very limited
so that was disappointing because we were
expecting something that our taste buds were
yearning for.

However, get past that and the eggplant is really good.
The yakitori is OK, nothing memorable.

Other dishes were very good.

Wine selection is limitesdand on the stingy side when
it comes to volume that one might consider normal for
the price.

Location is a little walk from Central Park but still
worth the visit.

“small menu but great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

This menu is set up more like a tapas-style menu. We had meat wontons, which were huge and good, roasted eggplant - absolutely fantastic, yakitori - nothing special, just chicken on a stick but fine, and the seared beef tenderloin - fantastic. Four items was enough for two. The glass of wine was small and not great, but I'd go back for the food. It's a nice change from all of the other options.
