“Best restaurant we found in a week in Antigua”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2013 via mobile

We ate out twice a day for a week in Antigua, and this is the only place we went back to twice. It was amazing both times! There a number of really good restaurants in Antigua and we only stumbled on this while looking for another place which rated higher on trip advisor. We have eaten at the top five rated restaurants in Antigua this week (all of which were very good) but Rafa's was a notch above them all for the quality and presentation of their food. They have a good wine list and make a nice cocktail, however the wine list is a little small - but had some good wines.

“Very tasty, good value, excellent ambiance, great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2013

Located on 4th Ave Norte, near Central Park, we enjoyed our lunch at Rafa's, the 6th of Dec, 2013. I had Pappordelle Mediterirranean and my spouse had capres (raviole). All the ingredients were just what we like and thank god it had no cilantro (which we are sick of). The 2 meals, 2 beers and tip was about $25. There are many interesting items on the menu and we will probably eat there again next week.

“Definitely Recommend Rafa's for a couple or group!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2013

We visited Antigua with a large group of people. We ate at Rafa's twice during our stay & both times were fantastic! They handled our large group efficiently and the food quality was excellent. The service was friendly and timely. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, including Rafa, who also came by to make sure our dining experience met expectations.

Rafa's is located conveniently near the main square and is a 'must' for travelers looking for a great meal at a moderate price!

“Unimpressed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2013

We went to Rafas last Sunday.

The ambiance is simple but clean. 4 pictures adorn the walls
of an otherwise white dining area.

We ordered two french onion soups, the mushrooms and
the salmon with two glasses of wine.

The french onion soupl was anything but a authentic style soup
the french are known for. Served in a nornal soup bowl (not a small croc)
the bread floating in the middle of the soup bowl with a generous
amount of cheese covering just the bread. The bread was interesting. It was
hard to determine but it looked like half a mcmuffin. The soup was salty. So,
for tatse and presentation it fell far short of a french onion soup expected
from a bistro. The mushrooms were cooked in a wine sauce but overall were
tastless. The salmon came on a small board maybe 1/8 inch thick, not a plate.
The salmon laid on top of a bed of spinah and mushrooms. On each side of the salmon
were two dollops of pured carrots. Unusual for the sides one might expect with salmon.
The bed of spinich and mushrooms was the best part of the plate. The salmon seemed
like it was pre packaged in maybe a vacuum pack. It wasn{t fresh. Cutting it
was like cutting a piece of meat not like a flakey texture normally associated with salmon
and it was overcooked.

The waiters were attentive in so much as they checked to see if we wanted more
bread but not to see if we enjoyed our meal. At the end the bill was about Q465.00.
Not bad if the meal had been up to the standards of a good bistro.

If we return we most definatley would order something else. They also have
a customer satisfaction questionaire you can complete which we did.
