Owner description: This massive convent was a thriving community of nuns from 1736 until the 1773 earthquake, after which it was abandoned. Now open to the public, tranquil gardens, sparse nuns’ cells and a terrific view from the roof make this a popular attraction.

“Wedding here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

My brother had his wedding here and it was truly a magical event. It was almost like stepping into the past and experiencing a wedding in the 17th or 18th century. Very romantic setting for events.

“partially restored”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

There is a small museum of colonial art in the second floor. It has some very nice carved wooden statues that are unique. But the place needs further restoration, it feels unfinished.

“Stunning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

If you visit Antigua you must see the ruins of Convento de las Capuchinas. This beautifully kept Convent evokes mental images of a time past and the lives lived before us. Be sure to ask for a map of the convent, so that you can better understand what you are seeing!

I did not want to go to the convento but my tour guide Otto said it was worth seeing. What a great place!!! The building must have been cutting edge at its time and really impressed me. You might see wedding couple and 15rs taking picture becasue it so well made..

“Peace and Quiet and relaxation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

Let your imagination go and picture what it would have been like! The Museum of religious artefacts is most impressive, the wooden statues, very! interesting! The garden is small, but a mini little oasis and is so peaceful. worth the 40 Q admission.
