Quinta (pronounced Keentah) de las Flores is located in Antigua, Guatemala, about an hour's drive from Guatemala City. The hotel is composed of regular hotel rooms and several two-bedroom townhouses (aka casitas). In my opinion the casitas are the best choice! The casita comes with two bedrooms, 1.5 baths, kitchen, living room w/ fireplace, and even a small patio with grill. The casita I stayed in, #1, had incredible views of the beautiful hotel gardens and the distant volcano. The hotel has a modest restaurant/cafe with al fresco dining. The food was good and decently priced. The staff was very helpful and patient (I was a bit neurotic waiting for my partner to arrive from the airport). My only complaint is that the shuttle service from the airport is expensive. It is $40 for up to three people, which is fine unless you are traveling by yourself. All in all, I would not hesitate to stay here again, and I have already highly recommended it to some co-workers who are traveling there in the next few months.

“The Best Hotel in Antigua”

Definately the best hotel in Antigua and probably one of the best in Guatemala. After long flights and a ride from Guatemala city it was such a relief to arrive here. We felt immediately safe and comfortable in the high walled gardens. Security is excellent. What a peaceful place to stay amidst the bustle of the city! The gardens are relaxing and beautiful with the sound of running water as we went to sleep. Breakfast in the private restaurant overlooking the gardens was the best of our trip, the coffee is great, the food delicious and the staff are the most pleasant and helpful people we could have come across. We even had hummingbirds buzzing less than a meter away from us as we ate! The views of the volcanoes from almost anywhere in the property are amazing. Our room was spacious, comfortable and simply but tastefully decorated. Wish we could have stayed longer! Book early as popular!

I've stayed here so many times and I long to return. It is hard to describe how utterly lovely the gardens and rooms are. The textiles. The art. The coffee. Breakfast at the private restaurant. Cocktails at the bar. The sound of the gentle fountains. My husband and I love this place and so do our now grown kids, one of whom was married in Antigua. Alas, not at Quinta de las Flores -- they do not permit weddings, but they do welcome groups. It's a ten minute walk to the main square, and that is part of the charm. I've stayed alone, with my husband, and with a group of medical missionaries, who introduced me to the perfect place to recuperate after a tiring week of serving the medically needy in eastern Guatemala. Check out the Adam and Eve lamps at the bar -- priceless.

Quinta de Las Flores is a stunning hotel on the edge of Antigua's center (that means ten blocks to the plaza and cathedral) set in lovely gardens. My room was a garden room, and was an outstanding value--a patio overlooking the gardens, a wood burning fireplace, high ceilings, skylit bathroom, and local textiles and materials to complete the bedroom decor. . .this room, $75 in Antigua, would be $300 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. (Courtyard rooms, while without the garden patio, are even more reasonable, and the same well manicured grounds are still a part of the ambiance) Staff was quite friendly and accommodating. While Antigua is filled with charming, small hotels, Quinta de Las Flores is set apart by its gorgeous grounds and pool area, with the Volcan Agua towering over the low buildings. . .and as compared to other top flight inns in Antigua, seems to have better rooms at a lower price than other good choices. I loved the location opposite the Catholic School across the way, with all the school kids about in their uniforms making for memorable images each morning.

Antigua is, quite simply, one of the more picturesque cities in the Americas, and one of the best travel values in the hemisphere. Loved the great restaurants--try Panza Verde for cheese fondue, Don Martin on Avenida 4 north of Calle 1 for innovative cuisine at low prices, and Fonda de Calle Real for interesting Guatemalan specialities. SkyBar has some nice views from the very top deck at happy hour.

I'd return to Quinta de Las Flores in a heartbeat, and at these prices, it has to be one of the more noteworthy hotel bargains in the world. . .

    • Disliked — Unlike other hotels in Antigua, rate did not include breakfast. Pressure in shower could have been stronger.

I made a last-minute jaunt to Antigua Guatemala, coming from Honduras. I didn't have much information on hotels there so I consulted Google and found Quinta de las Flores.

The rooms there are enormous, and each has a fireplace and down comforters -- essential for cold nights in Anituga! The grounds are also beautiful, filled with flowers and well-landscaped. There's a small pool, but it's only big enough for a quick dip. The restaurant is excellent if basic. The staff is very attentive -- when I needed to catch a bus early in the morning and no taxi passed by, the porter offered to drive me in his private car, which was above and beyond expectations.

The bathroom in my room (room 8) did not match the beauty and detail of the rest of the room. I wish the hotel had wireless intenet, as many do -- though they do have a couple of computers to check email.

The biggest drawback is the location: it's a bit far (10-15 mins walking) from the center of town -- not good if you are taking buses to your next destination.

I would highly recommend this hotel. It was extremely comfortable!
