“Great banana bread!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2014

Buy a loaf of their banana bread, it's delish! I like it smoothered with peanut butter and Nutella!! Try it! When I used to live in Antigua, I would often meet my girlfriends for a hangover brunch there! Good food, though be prepared to wait a bit...usually there are lots of people, and so it takes a bit longer to get your food. Just be patient, welcome to Antigua, things run slower :)

“Really awful...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2014

We stopped here because it began to rain and we were in need of a quick meal. The service and environment were great but the food was really terrible. We ordered Sopa de Legumbres that tasted like hospital food, un Sandwich Barbacoa that was overwhelmingly sweet, and two tostadas that should be avoided at all costs. It was very obvious that the ingredients came from a can. Dona Luisa is not a very good lunch place but perhaps the bakery is better (I believe it is best visited as a bakery).

“A Local Institute”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2014

Dona Luisa Xiconteneatl was our go-to restaurant. It is popular with residents and tourists. The courtyard is a lovely place to relax and enjoy a meal. There is a bakery on site so all the breads are wonderful. Nothing beats a grilled cheese sandwich on fresh baked bread.

“Great value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2014

There is a nice interior patio where you can enjoy a coffee, a smoothie or a meal. Food and drinks are really good and the price is reasonable.

“Will Not Admit Mayan Vendors - Unconscionable Racism”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2014

The proprietors turned us away because we Americans were accompanied by a Mayan vendor lady friend of ours and her daughter (our fellow church members). I assume this offends not only Americans, but all nationalities.

Since baked goods and coffee can be had at lots of good places in Antigua, I would recommend voting against this type of prejudice by spending your Quetzal elsewhere.
